Anyone know why 08630 and 08691 have moved to Nemesis at Burton? For maintenance or to be resident shunters?

Today I observed the remains of two scrapped gronks in a yard next to the Birmingham-Derby line just west of Burton on Trent - think the site is LH Group of Barton-under-Needwood (close to the Bombadier depot).

All I saw at a glance from a passing train was the front end yellow and black bits, stood upright facing the line. Google earth shows a few locomotives next to a warehouse there and there’s a photo on eBay of EWS coloured 08393 at this site in 2012 coupled to what looks like an ex-army Sentinel. No idea if this is a recent scrapping or whether the remains have been noted previously.

That might be nemesis rail yard. There is/was one at central rivers (Barton) but I noticed the couple you mention last time I passed nemesis.

There are derelict 08/09s at Nemesis (part of a long line of stock). LH Group has a mix of industrial shunters but any 08s are likely to be for repair. I did notice a front radiator (?) panel in the yard opposite LH when I visited 3 months ago which is maybe what you saw. (52.7664349, -1.6923284).

Yes, definitely the radiator bit but two of them, only got a glance in passing so assumed scrap as there seemed to be a few other bits scattered around on what looked like a scruffy bit of land.

The gronk visible in the long line of coaches at Nemesis next to the line is 08918.

One of the radiators at LH Group is from scrapped 08077, been there quite some time.

Yes it has. 08511 has gone back to Wishaw

Also 08825/97808 has displaced D4157 (08927) at Bescot which has also gone to Wishaw and 08571 is now at LH Group along with 01528, 08296, 08530 and 08947.

This is one I have struggled to find much information on unfortunately, although I can't see anything suggesting it is at Central Rivers!

If anyone can offer clarity on operator/location of 08865, it would be appreciated

I believe its in the HNRL pool so presumably Harry Needle, unless the pool code hasn't been changed if its been sold on recently?

That would make sense as I believe the other Class 08 at Central Rivers is 08943 which is also a Harry Needle loco

Last I heard 08943 was a stripped out shell at Barrow Hill. Confirmed at Barrow Hill on a fleet status report on WNXX (subscription required)
