Good evening one and all!
I was wondering if anyone ‘in the know’ might be able to enlighten me as to what Northern’s Class 142 diagrams will look like following the timetable change this Sunday. One of my aims this summer (in addition to various other life goals ) is to indulge in a few last rides on these trains before they head off on their final outward journey to the great nodding donkey sanctuary in the sky/scrapyard.
I would be interested to hear about any diagrams, but particularly routes like:
Carlisle - Barrow/Lancaster
Lancaster - Leeds
Whitby - Middlesbrough/Hexham
York - Harrogate/Leeds
Sheffield - Manchester Piccadilly
I grew up riding on these trains and they seem to have followed me about wherever I’ve moved to in the UK (for example, when I moved down to Devon to train as a teacher, they turned up there, and then the very same units moved up with me to York when I relocated there immediately afterwards) so I have rather a soft spot for them and will miss them when they’re gone! I’m incredibly pleased that the NRM are looking to preserve 142001, but it won’t be quite the same somehow!
Thanks in advance
