When will the first trials start under its own power?
In September I believe, up and down the WCML to get 1500 trouble free miles for the first 3 of each type and then 500 miles each for the rest of the fleet.. I imagine most of this will be done at night.

Probably from Allerton. Some Liverpool drivers are passed for the route to Crewe.
Would it not be FOC drivers doing the fault free mileage accumulation. GBRf are doing it for the IEPs, and FHH are doing it for CAFs TPE units, I wouldn't be surprised if FHH were doing the northern units as well

Northern Rail could really do with these units ASAP. They need a bit of good PR because the last 2 or so months have been a disaster the everyday passenger's point of view.

Somewhat bizarrely, 331101 at Velim carries the number 331101 at one end, but 331001 at the other!

I know the 3 cars are meant to be 331/0s and the 4 cars 331/1s, so maybe it's a bit of both?!

Saw 195001 at Edge Hill last night as I went passed at around 1830. Appeared to have moved out of the sheds under its own power given there was no shunter in the vicinity but could be wrong. Looked very smart it must be said.

Yes I noticed it too, fleetingly, as I passed just before 22.00.
My first thought was "2 car Voyager in Northern livery?!!!" before I realised what it was!
Looks smart I must say.

The 331 at Edge Hill is now in the sidings if you want a good look at it .Also, there's another one of the diesels arrived. 103 I think it was. Sat in the shed.

Some new carriages have been visible at Portbury since Monday. There seems to be at least 3, maybe more - it's hard to tell from the M5 over ridge whilst moving!

331001 sat on one of the roads nearest the mainline at Edge Hill this afternoon. Appears to have the right number at both ends!

As with the 195, looks very nice, also suits the Northern livery.

Four cars were delivered by road to Edge Hill last week. Can anyone ID the set(s), could possibly be the first 331/1?

If you read the posts you will know that 331001 has been at Edge Hill for sometime.
However 331001 has now been moved from the position it occupied next to the main line and is probably in the old servicing shed.

Just for confirmation FHH will be doing mileage accumulation on these new units. Planned path is Edge Hill - Ditton and return.

How many miles in total are the Accumulation runs? Usually its something like 1000 miles of fault free running? Thats a lot of trips up and down between Edge Hill and Ditton!

Seems a bit pointless as presumably it doesnt test things like doors much etc.
Didnt help with the Scottish 385's which after over a year of running where deemed unsuitable.
Should just put one in service see how it goes.

Very much a point to it if it starts reversing signals.
