If I remember correctly it was converted into a demonstrator unit for hydrogen power and became 799001.
That's a pretty elusive beastie isn't it? I guess it's usually stored. Is there any public vantage point you can see it from - or from a passing train? Many thanks

It is surprising tho, given how quick a vehicle can be disposed by the smasher at Newport compared to the far slower process using gas axes elsewhere. Having said that as you point out the commercial need in a given area may well make the difference

The vehicles have to be processed before being shredded either way, they don’t simply feed them in whole. Whilst some heavy components such as bogies may still be cut up using oxy-propane the majority of the vehicle is dismantled using grabs, grapples or shears, the latter of which will also handle heavy components. Looking at those photographs, 319451 and 91132 look to have been ‘attacked’ with a grab and the sturdier parts of the former and the majority of the latter are still intact so further processing is required. Looking at that scrap pile I wouldn’t be surprised if they use the aforementioned shear to break it all down further, assuming they have one.

RCTS has stated in the April RO that all 4 coaches of 453 arrived at Sims, Newport on 15th December, followed by 62965 (451) and 71874, 77446/7 (455) on 16th December.

Do you think we can therefore assume that the remaining coaches of 451 and 455 were broken up at Sims, Nottingham?

After today, is this definitely the end of Abbey 319 operations?
Today is the last full day of service.

apparently they run on Monday on the morning services then in the service gap the 319 is taken out and replaced with a 350 thus marking the end of 319 Abbey Fliers.

LNWR will probably then store this unit at Bletchley until, if ever it’s needed again.

Many thanks for the info

This looks like the last 319s move from the Abbey Line

Is the list on page 1 still accurate, I think I heard 319441 was now off lease but don't know if this is correct?

Wasn't aware of this but it's been placed into storage at Crewe South Yard by the looks of things. It looks like it's the only one that's left LNW so far?

I don't know how true this is but I've heard 441 is due to go to Orion for parcels conversion
