I'm guessing you don't do a lot of commuting?! Either that or you're about 3 foot tall.

I can't see how height would affect the comfort of a mostly-transverse/bays 345.

It seems likely you're referring to the 700's airline seats, in the wrong thread.

Another thing i forgot to mention is that the automated announcements seem really cheap and poor quality as they regularly stutter. For example on one of the 345s i went on it ended up stuttering and saying "Strat....ford" and i heard it at a few other stations as well. So i think that needs to be sorted out as well. I'm not sure what is causing this.

This stutter has now been fixed - the software has started rolling out to the fleet 8-)

Whilst slightly different, the transverse seating in the 345 is of the same design as the seating on the class 700, so a comment like that would seem appropriate. I haven't been on a 345 yet so I can't comment on the seating comfort though.

I'm pretty sure that this referred to the comment about how the 321s will be missed when they are gone, so it makes sense (low Ashbourne seats). Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Seating cumfort wise, IMO the 345 is miles better and as a way of backing this up my 1 and only ride was streight after a lejondary Thameslink Stagger ECR to Farringdon with a short tube journey on which I stood in between.

Im a bit behind, how many in traffic now and have they knocked any 315s off the route yet?

As far as I know there are now four delivered to Ilford ( 345 005 to 345 008 inclusive ) but I'm not sure if all four have been used in traffic. I haven't seen any reports of any 315 displacement yet; just the odd 345 working here and there still.

I had 345008 (first day?) yesterday and I know that the other three have been in service, so all four have been in service.

I admit we are not experiencing wide scale opperation yet but it hasnt escaped me that thus far these trains have been free of the irritating habbit of going wrong Ala 700s, or if they have its not been mentioned. When major numbers of these are out I am looking forward to seeing how reliable they are

Early days yet, the entire fleet can only have collectively done about 1500 miles in service so far, the 700s have done far more than that. There do seem to be fewer reported problems, however, their introduction is being taken at a much slower pace. 6 weeks after the first public 700 run they were being seen regularly, the 345s are still as yet very elusive with no diagram replacement of 315s yet that I'm aware of.

I would like to have a trip one one of these, is it random or are there particular workings everyday that are 345s. If they are regular I would appreciate the times from Romford to Liverpool street. I note that on real times they all still show as 315s.

Thanks in advance

Any working on RTT with a headcode of 2Zxx is booked to be a 345, regardless of the timing load.

These are the only workings so far:

2Z04 1035 Liverpool Street - Shenfield
2Z05 1139 Shenfield - Liverpool Street
2Z06 1235 Liverpool Street - Gidea Park
2Z07 1419 Gidea Park - Liverpool Street

On Saturdays (subject to engineering works):

2Z06 1156 Liverpool Street - Shenfield
2Z07 1305 Shenfield - Liverpool Street
2Z08 1356 Liverpool Street - Shenfield

They mashed one in a "heavy shunt" recently, I doubt that will work again unless the ROSCO really fancies it. Don't know which exact 315 it is though.

That was a LO 315 that is now back in service.

840 and 848 were involved in a collision at Gidea Park. Side swipe I believe. Latest info I can find is that the post incident repairs are more or less finished, just brake pads to change and a few other bits to do.

From a few 345 pics I've seen, I've noticed that there is door opening buttons on the gangway partitions. What are they for?

The buttons are to open the fire doors between what will be the 5th and 6th car

345010 just headed through Billericay on test.

There's a ridiculous 'non news' story in our local rag about these tests fueling speculation that the service might be extended to Southend.

By a 'trainee reporter'. Very good

Not sure my body could stand the forces of acceleration and deceleration required to achieve those timings.
