Any idea as to why? I'm just curious to know;)

All traction must undergo route certification. As there was no need for the unit to ever go to blackfriars I can see at least one reason why it didn't get route certification. (it ddn't need to)

A possible alternative route for the 395 in the event of a problem on HS1?

They use Victoria for that, used to be regular (weekly) 395 runs into Victoria to keep the drivers route knowledge up. Not sure if that still happens?

Javelin 3 / Victoria Cross . UK Railtours train went into Victoria and Cannon Street on Saturday, but that was the third one in a series of 395,s in unusual locations. it raised plus £21,000 for Charity:D We think there may be a Javelin 4 next year

Don't forget you can't get from the bay from London Bridge so it would have to be cleared via Loughborough Junction.
