I don't think the 4BIGs would have travelled that route either![]()
I know a 421 went that way en route to MNR. I know, close but no CIGar.

I appreciate 442s are not identical to HST trailers, but I'm amazed that the latter is cleared but the former isn't- especially given the low structure of the viaduct mentioned? The railways really are a strange place at times!
How often would 422s have travelled that route in normal service? There's your answer as to why nobody did the paperwork to clear them.
Why Ely? Seems a long way to put them in store...

I was puzzled by all the ely references. Why are they anywhere north of London. Afaik, after leaving Swt land they've only worked vic to brighton route and now going to storage at Eastleigh. I'm puzzled......
47815+2420 on way to Ely yesterday.
(Shows as screenshot as I cropped it on the phone and screenied it)
imagine those as a revamped version of the 309's to and from Clacton ?![]()
A rolling stock storage crisis is looming
4, 6, 17, 19 seen still in service yesterday.
Is 005 still in service? I had that about a week ago and not seen mention of it since
only the brits would moan about having too many carriages!!!
Remember we still dont know where the rest of the 319s, 317s, 321s, and 365s are going yet, there needs to be room for these to.
The Pacers, 313s, 315s, 507s and 508s should probably go straight to the scrapyard.
No replacements for the 507s and 508s have been ordered as yet so they will not be going into store anytime soon.
Not yet, but Merseytravel has a tender going.
Anybody still going for haulage on the 442's had better get in quick.
Barring any last minute changes, this wekend is scheduled to be the final Saturday / Sunday operation of 442s.
All weekend Gatex services from Saturday 17 should be 387s
Still 442s until 2018. As Southern (not Gatex or TL) do not have any 387s.Does, that include the 387's doing the Eastbourne expresses or are the 442's still going to be used for those services?
If the connection did exist, would there be any space at Horsted Keynes for storage of carriages?Better start redoubling the Ardingly branch, then.![]()

It would help the Bluebell out if the lines were built for them.
Clearly never going to be storage option though in case anyone thinks I'm being serious.

I agree with you comment Neil, however I believe that the fast trains to Eastbourne are run with Express branding i.e. they are run under the Gatex franchise, not the Southern franchise. This is in the same way that Gatex class 387 units I believe are doing the express services from Brighton to London Victoria or is this being run by the former Thameslink class 387's?
