What was the point in sending the 4x 465/0s to storage if they were never going to stay there more than a few months? Why didn't all the 465/2s just go instead?5Q89 37884 465004/017
South eastern are short off a few units. What was the point in sending the 4x 465/0s to storage if they were never going to stay there more than a few months? Why didn't all the 465/2s just go instead?
Presumably Southeastern will release the 4652s due maintenance or in worst condition first. I agree that parts stripping to maintain other Networkers is possible, assuming that there is compatibility.South eastern are short off a few units.
True the 4650 should have stayed.
Hence returning in better condition.
However interesting to see about the 4652 at worksop ie scrap or maybe broke up on site for spares for others where components are compatible.
At the very least 465/2 parts should be compatible with 465/9 and 466 parts, however if the 2s have gone for being the least reliable at the moment one does wonder if parts' donors is a suitable future for them.Presumably Southeastern will release the 4652s due maintenance or in worst condition first. Were any mechanical changes made to the 465/9s, as if not surely they should be no more reliable than the 465/2s?At the very least 465/2 parts should be compatible with 465/9 and 466 parts, however if the 2s have gone for being the least reliable at the moment one does wonder if parts' donors is a suitable future for them.
Although the /9's are Met Camm units their upgrading regarding disability regs makes them a much more viable proposition. The /2's are all in storage now they are off lease, and will no doubt provide parts to keeps the 9's on the scene......as they do fill in a significant service role. The 466's seem to be falling apart at the edges........the toilets are not compatible with new disability regs but combined with /9's are providing the extra seating required. Were any mechanical changes made to the 465/9s, as if not surely they should be no more reliable than the 465/2s?
Are there any plans to actually overhaul the remaining Networkers? Surely with spare stock now, it's the perfect time to start working on them, as they'll be in service for several years more.
The one I was on yesterday had the window surround coming off!
All the Networkers have had the required disability upgrades (bar a few 466s with the non compliant toilets).Although the /9's are Met Camm units their upgrading regarding disability regs makes them a much more viable proposition. However, having been active a lot recently on 465's and 466's, other than commuter time the services are still fairly empty. There is a requirement to keep 466's going but I believe that there'll be some more going to storage sooner rather than later.
Cheers

Saw 465249 on this just outside of Peterborough just before it headed down the line towards March. Wondered where it was being taken to until I saw this postThis might be of interest: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:K06312/2021-12-15/detailed

Agreed. It's feeble excuse to blame the locals for the condition they're in, as if the inhabitants of southeast London are somehow worse then south London where Southern/Thameslink operateTerrible how SE have left the Networkers to get in such a bad state, always been the same, years ago when the CEPs were being scraped, SE took on a few from SWT, the difference between the SWT CEPS and the SE CEPS was incredible, SWT CEPs still looked new inside.

Are these likely to be 465/466s or 321s?
More likely 465/466s as Ely is Angel’s storage site. Eversholt own the “Dusty Bin” fleet. Are these likely to be 465/466s or 321s?
Bare in mind the 365s were owned by Eversholt and were stored at Ely for a while (albeit not as long as the 317s etc)More likely 465/466s as Ely is Angel’s storage site. Eversholt own the “Dusty Bin” fleet.
