As well as 701 037, 5Q21 on Realtime trains, presume a 701 no number shown, run by SWR for testing, maybe training?, on the Waterloo return on the Hounslow loop route. Repeated later as 5Q22, 23 and 24.

Seems no 5050/1/2 testing from Eastleigh to Waterloo, Poole, Staines, Eastleigh today.
Passed 2x 701/5s today in Bournemouth Middle Sidings approx 20:20, presumably working 5Q52.

Anyone in the know that can let me know if the 701 diagram is being done today?
If so what unit will it be ?

Thanks in advance

So on RTT only ran Eastleigh Poole Woking and back to Eastleigh in the evening.
Today the full 5Q50/1/2 test run via Waterloo is activated, so might run?
5Q21 Hounslow loop test activated
Also 2U92 Windsor now activated.
3 701s running today?

Finally got on one of these after so many years. First impressions are that it is quite nice, a massive step up from the 455s (if nothing else because they have central heating).

For some reason the 10:25 seems to have been duplicated in the systems - all the platform dot matrices are showing it twice (both as the 1st and 2nd train) and it's listed twice on NRE but with different delay timings!

Edit: From the looks of it the return journey from Windsor has been similarly duplicated.

I see the same services are shown in RTT for next week.

The following week presumably will be nothing as it's industrial action week.

I find it interesting how so far no unit has been used two days in a row. Every day has a different unit to the day before and the day after. Normally when new trains enter service we see the same unit running multiple days in a row.

Apparently this return journey back to Waterloo is the first time they've had to use the wheelchair ramps in service, the train was delayed a few minutes at Feltham while they were dealing with that.

Looking at 2U92 on RTT, it spent less than three minutes at Feltham, although it had the advantage of having arrived about half a minute early. It left less than two minutes late and had more than made up the time by Clapham Junction.

Hopefully the elusive 701502 or 701001 appears. Those are the Dual voltage versions. Intrested to see what Pantograph model they have equipped.

It depends if any other units are "ready" for passenger service yet!

701502 last several times I’ve seen it, is dumped at the rear of Derby Litchurch Lane.

That would be the case before running on SWR metals. Same with panto fitted 707, testing done elsewhere, but equipment removed before transfer to South of the river.
Am I mistaken? IIRC I saw a 707 in Wimbledon, before they enetered service, still with a panto fitted.

I‘m fairly sure you will have done. In the original 707 introduction thread it was reported that they had run from Wimbledon over to Ferme Park via Blackfriars when doing AC proving overnight.

Later in that thread there was also a link to a photo of them at Farringdon: https://twitter.com/Clinnick1/status/844083583669231616

I believe on Flickr there was 701502 paired with 720544 at Asfordby business park back in 2021 which I didn't know both could couple up. Then again I'm thinking about the manual couplers of the 345 when saying that.

I would have thought SWR eould keep at least 3 of those units either the Dual voltage capability incase of special needs, agreed not to sure what lines they'd ever use them on outside of a very very unlike Paddington diversion from Reading if it were possible.
