Do Stagecoach Group have to be OK with them running around with their branding on for a different TOC?
I assume they'd have granted SWR some kind of short term license to use it, so that they don't have to rush around repainting trains that are going for scrap, but does that extend to Southeastern? Or is the design generic enough after having the SWT logos removed that they can't claim the rights to it?

At the very least, the SWR stickers will have to be taken off, if the 707s have them.
As others have said, probably just the branding peeled off/stuck over. Indeed when SWT themselves took on the 456s from Southern, they ran those for a time in Southern livery. The Southern roundels were removed but internal notices remained.

The word Stagecoach was not actually used in the branding - and the South West Trains name was owned by DfT. AIUI from earlier discussions this is why the SWT name was never removed prior to the TOC changeover day. The overall livery does use Stagecoach “house colours”, as do the 455 and 456, but I wouldn’t expect any sudden change, as reduction to the plain red they were delivered in is probably easily done by removing the orange and blue vinyl over the plain red.
The red SWT livery is less obviously "Stagecoachy" anyway than the white one on the 444s and 159s, which is very similar to their bus livery

Interesting that it was under its own power considering nearly all of us expected it to be hauled!

Stagecoach buses are being painted into a different colour/livery now in any case.

As the trains are (relatively) new, I'd guess Southeastern will paint them fairly quickly into their standard livery.
I’d expect the opposite. There is likely a long term paint warranty on them from Siemens which would be invalidated if they were repainted. It will be interesting to see if they consider all-over vinyls, though again Siemens may have something to say on that as vinyl allows water to get trapped against the body.

Still confused about why they’re taking it to Ashford... surely there’s little chance of them working beyond Sevenoaks in normal circumstances?
Yes, they are expected to be used Sevenoaks to London and other Metro services, but there is no room at any other sidings closer to London at the moment.

Based on the fact there as been such Dips in Commuting and Travellers before yet it bounces back, the 75% is said to be for this year, but subject to review. Not everyone can or wants to work from home, sure at the moment there are such low numbers but you're outright predicting the future... But yes that is getting Off-Topic.

Short term running gets us nowhere, the volume WILL return in the long term. Look where the short term thinking got us in the 60s - a huge loss of railway and billions since spent trying to get some of it back.

Anyway, sorry, OT!!!

Surely by then the 701s will have entered into service though?

Yes fair point. The SWT long distance colours were always the nearest to their typical bus scheme.

As a totally unknowledgeable person on that part of the world, have 707s been on the Southeastern routes previously or has gauging been carried out for them ? Or maybe they will operate over routes currently used by 700s with presumably identical profiles ?

The 700s are cleared for all Dartford routes aren't they - and these are near identical.

Still no word then on what is going when these are in service? The fact they are having to be stored at Ashford as no sidings space near London shows how lacking SE are in the London suburban area for sidings space.

True, once they are in service 465s could swap with them and be based at Ashford.

707s have never been on Southeastern routes, the service was specifically cleared to make the journey to Ashford, gauging will still need to take place on the rest of the network before they go into service. 700s are similar but not identical.

So none of the three legs involved drags in the end. Why were posters so certain they’d be dragged a few weeks back?

Although the Southern 377s that moved to Southeastern were vinyled in blue, with the tell-tale grey roof remaining.

The ex FCC 377s are still in first group blue with SE vinyl on the doors. 377163/164 are in Southern Livery with Southeastern logos.

They're not, are they? Two-tone blue is SE's livery for longer distance services, and looking at some photos, FG blue looks quite different to SE blue.
They definitely only had vinyl applied on the doors and various other markings added. No point covering one shade of blue with another.
