730034 on 5Q04 stops at top end Tamworth opens doors and punters set off up platform and some nearly boarded but just managed to get doors closed in time!

Must be close to introduction?
Some instructors have requested a full traction refresh prior to training drivers due to how long it's been since they were trained. Hopefully won't slow introduction down too much though.

That unit is fresh of the production line so is doing fault free running, stopping at stations and releasing the doors is part of that, usually they have signs by the doors to stop people boarding.

presumably it represents the two most important things that hail from the West Midlands - Cadbury’s and Wolves.
;)
Strangely enough l love that comment, lol....

Albeit that old gold would have been better and perhaps black rather than purple lol....

I've seen the 720s on test, I would've thought the Alstom test banners (Seen below) would also be on 730s (I got shouted at for touching the doors to open them but this picture was worth it).

Well done, and don't do it again.

Unless you see a different (or missing) one !.

Does anyone know which pair of orange ones are doing the Rugby to MK tests 10/05/23
730014 and 730017 have come down to Bletchley today. Moving from Bletchley to Camden for continued storage today were 730008/009/012

Just double checking - are all units in the UK and if not, are they coming through the channel Tunnel. Any allocation of coming through the CT would be appreciated

They're made in Derby, so none will be coming through the tunnel.

I believe there was a unit or two at Velim Test Track around late 2020/early 2021, they're not there anymore, but they might have come through the CT. I'm sure someone is able to advise?

They was shipped by Road and Sea. I remember seeing pictures of the units on the back of lorries heading out there.

They were, (or it was one of) the green ones and they are all back, two at Crewe and one at Old Dalby last I heard.

Training for managers has started today I think, so that there will be someone to assess the drivers and conductors in the near future. There are some test runs in the system for tomorrow night as well as Wednesday and Thursday.

As for training of train crew I do'nt think anything else will start for a couple of weeks with next week being a write off in terms of train service thanks to a bank holiday and three strike days.

Does anyone know what the next unit to be built will be? Will it be 730037 or will it be an LNR unit? Just wondering since the original order was for 36 730/0s, and 730036 was built recently, of course there's now 48 /0s. But I'm just wondering whether a /2 will come out next since perhaps the production line couldn't have been changed that soon on?

I'm happy to be corrected, but my understanding is the 730/2 no longer exists.

The order is now 48 730/0 (3 car) and 36 730/1 (5 car).

I read in Modern Railways that it’ll be the /1s that won’t exist, with the existing ones being converted to /2s. Presumably due to the plan to change the interiors to be 2+2 with tables and armrests, so effectively the original plan for /2.

Are the “additional” /0s going to be used on WMR or LNWR?
They’ll be in WMR livery iirc but the /0s will initially be used out of Euston until the LNR units come.

I saw on WNXX fairly recently the 730/2 designation was no more.

The source is usually reliable too.

Hopefully it'll become clear soon. :)

I see. So less units out of Euston and more in the midlands. Typical levelling up. I’m really looking forward to the cramped suburban trains out of Euston (not)!
