Could've sworn I've seen 9-car stop boards up between MKC and Euston. Not to say there are any 9-car diagrams, but I thought there was at least the option. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
There is always the option, just that with the diagrams as they are until December there is no 9 car timetabled work. Rather than specific 9 boards what I believe there are are 9-12 boards, these could serve 9 car 730/0's, 10 car 730/1's and 12 car 350's, future proofing if you like.

What's the seating and standing capacity of a 6 car 730 versus an 8 car 350?

A 3 car 730/0 has 199 seats and 345 standing. Meaning a 6 car 730 would have an overall capacity of 1088.

A 4 car 350/1 has 206 seats and 157 standing. A 350/2 has 246 seats and 117 standing. 350/3 and /4s have 214 seats and 149 standing in standard, with first class taking up 24 seats in each subclass. If we use the figures based on anything other than a 350/2, there is an overall capacity of 774 in an 8 car 350, which is 314 less than a 6 car 730/0, even though the 350 is 16m longer.

Seems something went wrong before Northampton Mill Lane on this one tho
Thanks!

Also seems that the press day went ahead today, managed to find two tweets - they look very nice in my opinion!

Having a look at a new @AlstomUK Class 730 this morning.
@WestMidRailway 3-car sets to enter service on @LNRailway services into Euston in 6-car formations in early autumn, and will then start to be used in the West Midlands in late autumn, initially on Wolverhampton to Walsall

On board 730018. Expected into traffic this autumn, initially replacing 319s on LNRailway. The 319s have been extended until September, although 2 have been scrapped.

They look like the proverbial polished turd:

1. Hard seats
2. Huge bodyside conduit
3. No spacers between seats so backsides will hang into the aisle (even the 700 has 2" spacers at the window and in the middle)
4. Poor legroom

But a flashy colour scheme.

To be fair they're probably not an unreasonable replacement for a 323 which is what they'll mostly do, similarly a 319 which has many similar flaws, though. And they appear to have a better interior than the 777, though that doesn't really take an awful lot of doing.

I wonder if the two that went for scrap did so because of the need to free a bit of space at Bletchley as noted above (thus cascading to result in the short-forms mentioned).

To be honest I've always found the Kiel VarioRelax3000 seats to have some of the better padding out of any modern seating, better than the FISA LEAN in that department. But the /0s won't be down south that long at least, it'll be /2s before we know it! Legroom is disappointing but that's my only objection, modern trains have such an abundance of priority seats it should be less of a problem.

Very colourful interior.

The colour scheme is bang on, just like the 196s, looks very classy.

They're the same as the 720 seats, right? Rock hard when I tried those, harder than even original ironing boards, and about the same as that tat Merseyrail specced in the 777. though at least the back is better shaped.

Guess I'll get to try soon enough, if I go to London the 0656 off Bletchley is my usual which is a 319 turn which I guess will go 730 relatively soon.

Yes they're the same as the 720s, but they've done the "wearing in" thing really well, to the point where they've got some of the most padded backs of any modern units, similar to the E3000s, though admittedly that's one department the E3000s don't have much of. I'm in London tomorrow so I can get some recordings of the padding :)

With the introduction of the classes 805 and 807, we're likely to see 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 car boards at Milton Keynes. Is this a record?

Is that the same kind of stupidly placed heater as seen on Northern's new contraptions, where on half the seats you have to sit sideways?

What may be acceptable on the Rose Hill Marple flying donkey... probably won't go down too well with those paying £15K annual London seasons on full & standing trains.

Could they be crying for their lovely ol' 319s back??

Nope, the heating on these is underfloor, god knows why the conduit is there.
All the seats on the GA 720s are the same width. The ones at the ends in 2+2 formation just have spacers against the sidewall. The 730/0 doesn't (this to me is a very bad decision).

The ones that look offset aren't wider either, it's just because of the body-end taper.
Having travelled on a 720 today, I took the opportunity to measure the seat widths, and the 2+2 priority seating is around 5cm wider per seat than the non priority seats.

Is 5cm much?

There were a couple WMR 731s at Crewe Traincare last night, there were not there in the morning so presume they had been on milage accumulation trips up and down WCML.

Apologies, yep.
730 021 & 730 022 are the ones stabled at Crewe currently.

These are being used for driver refresh/training purposes. The 730/1s are no longer there I don't think
