A number of stored class 92s are being tested and returned to traffic.
A test train has been running up to Carlisle and back with up to 4 92s on the front of a long rake of EWS coal hoppers.
92011/25/27 were on it last Friday.

I don't suppose that this is the beginning of reactivating the 92s for export to Bulgaria. Or is it? Another explanation could be that someone has asked for them to be used in order to reduce carbon emissions (owner or client) or that there's a contract coming up for more 66s abroad.

This might explain the bizarre train on the Up WCML today - Crewe c.1330, Stafford c.1425

92019 hauling the following 'dead in train' - 92011/27/25/31 - followed by various flats, a china clay tanker, and further flats.

Five 92s at the head of a train! Some sight.

Anybody identify the working?

According to WNXX,

92011 92019 and 92027 (all WFMU) along with 92025 (WNTR) are all back at Crewe EMD for the weekend. More trials between Warrington and Carlisle are to take place next week, these (apart from Monday morning when the 92s run light to Carlisle as 0Z61 to be attached to a different rake of wagons) have been coded as a Class 6 (6Z61 & 6Z62) for the trials with a light engines transfer back to Crewe at the end of the week. The runs last week with the coal hoppers ran as Class 4s (4Z61 & 4Z62).

Back to four Class 92s on the Warrington to Carlisle and back test runs. The light engines move north this morning comprised 92025 (WNTR) hauling 92027 92011 then 92019 (all WFMU) thus 92019 led 92011 92027 and 92025 on the afternoon southbound 6Z62 working.
