As far as I know, the early morning service to Barton-on-Humber is no longer worked by a 185, but is now worked by a second 153. This was discussed in another thread ages ago, but I just want to make sure I understand it correctly.

Monday to Friday
The 153 that spends the night at Cleethorpes works the 0600 train to Barton, before working the 0658 train from Barton to Grimsby, before running empty to Scunthorpe and then working a train to Lincoln and then spending the rest of it's day working Lincoln to Sheffield trains or whatever. Meanwhile a second 153 runs empty from Doncaster to Scunthorpe, before forming the 0601 train to Cleethorpes, Northern's only passenger service over this line! This train then forms the 0700 to Barton and 0758 return, staying on the Barton line all day and overnighting at Cleethorpes, before forming diagram 1 the next day.

2F85 0855 Cleethorpes to Barton-on-Humber
etc.

Saturdays
Saturdays are different and odd. The 153 that stays overnight at Cleethorpes does the 0600 and 0658 return, before waiting in platform 3 for the unit on diagram 2 before going to Sheffield via Brigg. Meanwhile a 153 & 144 come in empty from Doncaster. The 153 forms the 0700 to Barton and 0800 return, and the 0900 to Barton and 0952 return before coupling up with unit 1 and working the 1110 to Sheffield. While this is going on, the 144 runs empty back to Scunthorpe (maybe including a shunt between platforms at Cleethorpes? not sure :( ) and forms the train to Lincoln that the 153 that overnights at Cleethorpes would form if it turned around at Grimsby. A 4th unit, another arrives from Sheffield and then works the Barton line for the rest of the day, staying at Cleethorpes until Monday morning.

2F89 1255 Cleethorpes to Barton-on-Humber
etc.

If this is correct, why the strange arrangement on a Saturday morning? Why does the ECS from Doncaster not drop the 144 off at Scunthorpe on the way? I assume it is to do with crewing. If anyone can provide any insight into this at all I will be most grateful, Tis a shame no 185s are seen on this line anymore.

Adam :D
