NOTE: Newport Dock Street passenger station was a terminus for trains from the western valleys line and I don't think that passenger trains ever ran through it to Mill Street. Unfortunately I can't find an early enough map to determine whether they could have done! It might have been safer to run from Courtybella Junction via Salutation Junction to Llanarth Street junction, missing out Dock Street altogether.

I did check that one and no - the platforms were only on the Western Valleys route to Ebbw Vale. The Brecon and Merthyr link trails in just to the east of the station.
