Do you have any evidence to support this claim, or are you simply trying to justify your personal dislike of a popular and experienced radio and television presenter?

In 2003, Claire Balding was the Royal Television Society's "Sports Presenter of the Year" and also won the "Racing Journalist of the Year". In 2012 she was awarded Sports Broadcaster of the Year. You're perfectly entitled to have your own opinions of her, of course, and she is frequently the target of irrational criticism because of her sexuality, but to say that she is "mediocre" is silly.

To say that she's 'mediocre' is giving an opinion. No one has to justify that, so don't throw stones in glass houses.
I don't like Terry Wogan. Are you now going to ask me to justify that? Please, get real!

If it is against the Terms and Conditions what is the problem?

About the Helmets the English Cyclists are using already gladly been explained by HawkeyeTheNoo.

Sooner the vote comes the better.

Anyway back to topic. I've been watching quite a lot of the games, as do find them interesting. Sadly arn't up in that area until next week though. Shall be watching the Time Trial later one.

The rate they can charge will be based on page views I have no doubt, although I also expect they're big enough to also negotiate fixed fees (which will be exceptionally high) given the immense traffic.

I've never clicked on an ad via the DM in my life, and I think many ad agencies are perhaps getting a little wiser these days and realising loads of page views, or even unique visitor numbers, are not any sort of guarantee of success.

In fact, some ads next to some really dodgy stories would more likely seek to boycott that advertiser. And there are now new and improved ways for advertisers to make sure their ads aren't shown in certain places.. so don't be surprised if some will deliberately ask NOT to be shown on the DM site.

Of course, others will love the fact that everyone hates the DM but always sends a link to make sure others can see why they hate the site!

Online advertising is generally charged on 'Impressions' - the number of times an ad is 'served' to a viewer. You can also do it on 'clicks' which is the number of times people click onto the ad and go to the advertiser's site. If tracking cookies on the advertiser's site is particularly good, you can also pay on 'conversion' which is when you track someone all the way through from click to purchase.

People generally use impressions, but can use a combination of all three.

There isn't one - provided that the Unionists are treated in exactly the same manner as the pro-independence side. So that means not allowing any Union Jacks into the venues, since the UK does not compete at the Games.

It's as simple as that.

Generally, yes, but when you're getting ridiculous levels of traffic you are in a position to deal directly and come up with your own terms, just as you would in the print world.

Smaller sites have little to no chance, and end up being paid a very low rate, or have to just take ads through a pool - like AdSense etc. It's the latter where advertisers are now starting to use software to make sure ads aren't put on inappropriate sites/pages but I am not sure how effective it is.

Just wondering - should the Union stay intact, whether at the olympics the GB Gold medal winners should have the option of whether to have the national anthem played when the Union Flag's raised or the anthem of Eng/Sco/Wales/NI should they so wish?

The Welsh and Scottish anthems are very powerful (GSTQ is, in my opinion, dreary!) and I'd love to hear them in Rio should a Welsh/Scots person win!

Actually technically the Union flag is the national flag of nations competing in the games. It is the flag of the UK of which all the home nations are part of even if they are representing their home nations under their individual home nation flags!

However the Yes campaign will continue to twist everything such as photoshopping yes onto saltires being held by winning athletes for example! Will be so glad to get the referendum over and we can get back to normal as Scots within a United Kingdom!

Another shameful display by the media yesterday and today with their sycophantic, crawling worship of Usain Bolt

Obviously nobody else turned up to compete in the Games, nobody else put in any effort and nobody else won a gold medal, oh yes, and nobody would have turned up to watch the events if Bolt had stayed at home and made a few more TV adverts

All in all a disgraceful slur against the multitude of competitors who have given their best only to be cast aside by the media so they can worship one man

The Team GB helmets were used as they are very expensive and the owners were being thrifty!
This is incorrect. The helmets have the branding of the manufacturer UKsport, not the "Team GB" colours as you would see at the Olympics. UKsport is also the manufacturer of the bikes, in what is definitely sailing very close to the wind with regards to the rules on equipment used in races being required to be available for general purchase.

Branding of technical equipment is relatively free at the Commonwealth Games compared to the Olympics, for example Annette Edmonson and Melissa Hoskins were wearing their normal Orica-GreenEdge team gloves and road aero helmets during their track race, with a similar deal applying to Daniel McConnell and Rebecca Henderson wearing the Australian team jerseys but everything else being their normal Trek Factory Racing kit during the MTB races.

One heart-warming aspect of the games was the crowd in Glasgow cheering English Competitors when they were winning.

This happened with a great degree of frequency as England topped the medals table just eclipsing the Aussies.

Scotland achieved a very creditable fourth place with 19 Gold's and Wales were 13th with 6. (Great win for Geriant Thomas in the Cycling today)

This was obviously more of a "rugby type" audience than a "football one" :p

Got to agree with that. It was shown with lots of the spectators, supporting all the people taking part.

Also it truly great win by Geriant Thomas and he was very lucky with that late puncture as well.

Glasgow 2014 was an enormous success so well done to that proud city. Well done also to the England team for finishing top of the medals tables both in number of gold medals and in the overall total. Shows how good we are as all round athletes unlike the team in second place which excels only at the sitting down and lying down sports.
