Hi, can anyone on here explain why Scotrail would allow another company to find conductors to work on Scotrail trains? This is regarding working from Glasgow Central for 6 months whilst Queen Street is getting revamped. New to this forum but don't understand why Scotrail conductors wouldn't be used for their own trains?
]Thanks

It's for loco hauled stock on a route that ScR conductors don't sign

I don't understand what you are referring to.

"Route Conductors" will be provided by companies who have signed off the routes between Cumbernauld into Glasgow Central for that time.

A route conductor can be a driver and a guard who have knowledge of the route and the assigned driver and guard have the traction knowledge.

It's not outsourcing as such but is required when drivers and guards need lengthy periods to sign off diversionary routes like this.

A route conductor is not the same thing as a conductor as in a guard. A route conductor is most likely a driver or manager.

All I know is that a company (not Scotrail) were recruiting for 3 'passenger train operatives'. When I enquired about this I was informed it was for conducting duties on Scotrail services between Glasgow and Cumbernauld for a period of 6 months. Apparently they were willing to train you up but I was curious as to why if it was a Scotrail train it wouldn't be a Scotrail employee as conductor. Like I said I'm new to this so just wasn't sure and wanted to know the reason behind it.
