I’ve actually considered that for the NLL or GOBLIN as the 378s and 710s haven’t been modelled. Just freight. Would actually be quite interesting.
That's inspired! 8-)

Fantastic - I love the DMB's oil stains - just how I remember the '80s. 8-) Was that on "Lapford", by any chance?
How is the 7mm fun going?

I feel like I've seen that achieved on more than one large DCC controlled layout at exhibitions over the last year.
:D :D :D

A decision to build a US based layout has been a financial godsend for my wallet. Although that comes with its own issues as well.

That was yes. :)

I’m making a little stabling point diorama at the moment, but I’ll wait until I’ve got a bit further before I post anything.

In honour of this thread I’m trying to spend as little money as possible making it!

One thing I've never seen in model form: a failed engine :D Strategically placed on the layout, with no need for operable model. Just perturbed driver and secondman, in their hi-vis clad, stood beside the four-foot.
I'll await Bachy and Accura class 31 "non runner" listings to appear on the Bay... ;)
Not entirely related, but I bought a bachmann sound fitted 47 in N recently, and it has a failed start option as one of the sound files! So i could have a failed engine on my layout desperately trying to restart its engine! (I have quite a smattering of sound fitted locos now......20, 37, 40, HST etc, and none of them have a failed start. Is this unfair treatment of the Sulzer 12LDA28C or anti duff bias from the sound file creators?!!)

If it’s got a sound for ‘Topping-up coolant header tank’ then all’s fair!

A few years ago I was contemplating a model based on a section of Long Rock depot, which would have featured an 08 shunting an HST power car (dummy) with a broken windscreen as a feature.

Related but different, I seem to recall a detailing article in Model Rail about twenty two years ago, to create an HST power car with coupling hatch open and tow bar extended for a static depot scene.

That's interesting, I've very recently decided that I'm going to turn one of Fort George's fiddle yard sections into a micro-layout of a single platform urban terminus for running my 90's DMU's on. And I'm also aiming to do it as cheaply as possible. Having the baseboards and track already there does help with this significantly! And there's the opportunity to re-use spare bits and bobs from Fort George.

:D I'm waiting for an exhibition layout to dare modelling an RMT / ASLEF strike day

The late Rev Peter B Denny explained a lack of newspapers in the kiosk at Buckingham Great Central by there being a printers strike.

While I haven't "played with model trains" since a kid, I'm thinking of starting a small tram layout (3 trams). The price has put me off somewhat so I will be buying dummy kits (Dapol BR rail-motor) etc. I really like the Blackpool trams, especially the Dreadnaught so will maybe get one of those Hadfield kits. I'm now 66 & my eyes are getting worse so I'd prefer to move up to O-scale but the dearth of models available seems to kill that idea. Anyone have the dimensions of the Blackpool Dreadnaught ? I may have a go at building an O-scale one.

Might be worth giving the tramway devotees at Crich a bell, as the sole surviving Dreadnought is owned by them and languishes in storage.

Going on a museum crawl to UK next year, quite expensive on my own due to the singles costs.
Hope to get into the Crich storage & see it (will bring measuring tape).

Too far from an HST...
As mentioned a few pages ago - RailRoad price inconsistency really does boggle the mind. 149.99 for Railroad HST, so assuming 34.99 for the dummy (as has no more features than railroad Mk3s - no lights or dcc socket) that gives us £115ish for the loco, which is nearly £20 more than RRP for the 66, also ex-Lima. I think the RailRoad range is fantastic for the models but price-wise I just can't stomach it.
