Could LNWR (paths permitting) use an ex Rugeley path to run a fast trent valley service to Liverpool?

Basically thread title

Could this be feasible? The only reason I suggest this is because my last TV run skipped all stations between Rugby and Stafford, so could this be possible? My idea would be Euston-Milton Keynes-Rugby-Stafford-Crewe-Runcorn-South P'Way and Lime Street

Opinions?

Also this would create more competition with Avanti Crewe services

The concept of on rail competition between TOCs under contract to the DfT is long since past.

Although it fascinates me that there's so far been absolutely no visible progress at 'rebalancing' the cases where there was competition into a less segmented market. This is particularly apparent in the cases of Northern and LNR.

In exactly the same way that service improvements which are hopeless value for money are being introduced still, at the same time as enormous spending cuts.

Well indeed. If a Nuneaton stop could be put in any new Avanti service to Liverpool, perhaps the LNR Crewe service could be sent via Northampton again. Why are LNR trains running at 110mph when they could no doubt save money by reverting back to the design speed of 100mph?

Far from providing faster services on the WCML, shouldn't LNR now be providing more slower services as befits a regional operator?

Doubt it would save them any cash, they need 110mph for any fast line path anyway, which will include to/from Ledburn.

LNR provide the service from places like Lichfield, Tamworth and Nuneaton to London, have for a handful of Avanti trains that call.

Sending these LNR trains via Northampton would be a huge dis-benefit to these places. You could arrange additional Avanti calls at these places but that just slows up the Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow services so would not likely be very popular.
