Day 3 of that Test Match has finished with New Zealand on 510-6
Taylor 235 not out
Williamson 166

Is the batting track at Perth conducive to run making?

I believe Geoff Boycott has applied for special permission to disinter his famous granny so that she can go out and score a century there with her walking stick.

Australia are soon to move to a new stadium in Perth, does anyone know whether it will be a similar cricket pitch?

It will be a drop in because the Aussie rules will be played on it during winter.
I beileve they have a trial pitch around to test what they want to put in.
There will be still games played at the WACA because the break even amount is something like 20k attendance across all days.
Only the high drawing games will be at the new ground.

The pitch for this WACA test has been nothing but deplorable. All it appears to be doing is putting flat spots in the ball. The amount of ball changes in this game has been a bit of a joke.
To put it bluntly it's a motorway. Nothing in it for the bowlers. If Australia batted on instead of going for a slog in the first innings we could of made a 1000 easily.

Day 4 of the Test Match

Just looked in at 0400 British time. New Zealand have moved on to 602-9 from 150 overs.

Taylor not out 285, now with 43 x 4 under his belt
Johnson currently 28-2-157-1

To be honest I think Johnson is just about done. He seems to be down on pace a bit. I'd give him to next year before retiring.
We did have a bit of a delay yesterday due to the sights screen deciding to break down with no means of moving it manually.
While were are at it. Starc bowled a ball yesterday at 160 km/h.

This match could actually boil up into quite an interesting contest. If it was a Timeless Test

I assume the WACA will be conducting some sort of investigation into how twenty-two yards of concrete ended up in the middle of the ground without anyone noticing?

This match is getting a touch intresting.
At this stage 5/345 leading by 280.
I'd be tempted to get to 300 and declare at tea and give them 30 overs to get them in.

And in other news Johnson has announced he is retiring from all international cricket as of the end of the game.
The demolition of England in the last Aussie series was nothing short of a highlight:

And now for the once a year rain shower Perth gets.

And that is that. The umpires robbing Johnson of one final over to bowl due to bad light.
NZ finished on 2/104. Johnson taking both wickets.
And a congratulations to MJ on a fantastic career.

Not taking anything away from Johnson, but his first innings analysis of 1-157 was the worst by any Aussie bowler at the WACA.

Strange how so few left arm fast bowlers have lasted the course over the years. Wasim Akram and Alan Davidson, also Zaheer Khan for India, so Johnson joins an elite few.

Third ODI...Sharjah

Pakistan 208 all out (49.5 overs)
Woakes 4-40

England 210-4 (41 overs)
Taylor 67 not out from 69 balls faced with 2 x 6 and 6 x 4
Buttler 49 not out from 50 balls faced with 1 x 6 and 2 x 4

A good unbroken stand at almost six runs per over helps England to win by six wickets with no less than nine overs to spare.

Quite a lot of changes for the South Africa tour - notably Ian Bell (and Adil Rashid) dropped. Gary Ballance and Nick Compton recalled.

England Test squad: Alastair Cook (Essex, capt), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire, wk), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire, wk), Nick Compton (Middlesex), Mark Footitt (Surrey), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Samit Patel (Nottinghamshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Taylor (Nottinghamshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).

Oh, and no Plunkett. I hope that doesn't mean Jordan will play, he's not up to test match standard.

As a Sussex supporter I too would much rather see Woakes in the England side, permanently in fact, and Jordan playing for his county ...........

Given this test was an absolute run fest I wouldn't be going off the figures.

Adelaide won't be a runfest. Given the trend that during the twilight period it appears it becomes very hard to bat the bowlers will have a big advantage.
During the shield match between SA and NSW they put more grass on the pitch to keep the ball in good nick.

Good knock by England today 355-5 Pakistan currently 64-2

There were three good innings by England players to keep the runs accumulation flowing:-
Roy......102 from 117 balls, with 1 x 6 and 8 x 4
Root.......71 from 71 balls, with 2 x 6 and 3 x4
Buttler...116 not out from 52 balls, with 8 x 6 and 10 x 4

After 31 overs, Pakistan have moved on to 221-5.
Topley has proved very expensive, going for 9 an over (his 6 overs costing 54 runs)

If Chris Jordan was given a proper chance, he could well be up to test match standard. His fielding is absolutely brilliant, he can bat (as can Rashid) but I admit his bowling needs some work, but then so does Stokes's!

Although I agree with Bell's omission, I can't believe Samit Patel offers much, Nick Compton maybe deserves another chance, and Ballance? Hmmm, have his technical difficulties against fast bowling suddenly disappeared?

Well...we've done it, winning a One Day series and overseas, let's hope this isn't a one off!

I believe there are (yet again) some question marks against Pakistan's performance
Hope they are unfounded, it would detract from Buttler's innings (and remember he got of to a fairly cautious start!).

Wasn't that from the ODI before?

First T20 match was due to start today...and I completely forgot....

England slumped to 19-3 before Morgan (45 not out) and Vince (41) put matters back on track. There then followed a cameo innings by Sam Billings, with 53 from only 25 balls with 2 x 6 and 5 x 4, before being run out.

England have just closed their innings on 160-5.

Billings showed his potential today. He was very good. Whether he can displace Buttler is another thing.

Jordan is the one who worries me. How the selectors have chosen him over Plunkett for the SA tour is very strange.

When Pakistan began their reply, they too had a poor start like England and found themselves at 25-3. They then had a middle order collapse and were 75-7 before their tail enders showed some sprit, but eventually were all out for 146; England winning by 14 runs,

Good T20 bowling returns by both Plunkett (3-21) and Topley (3-24).
