Is that a cast name plate? Looks like it from the photo albeit can't see the screw holes, if it is wow, looks far better than painted on.

Is a Class 170 the sort of thing that would create a sense of pride amongst the Leicesterians? I doubt it but if I’m wrong all I can say is that some people are easily pleased.

I know right, I find that vinyl stickers don’t have the same effect as the proper nameplates do. Looks quite good on a turbo star

I was thinking when I saw it that if I were from Leicester I'd be hoping we could do better than a Turbostar :s

The XC Turbostar fleet has been maintained at Tyseley, with minor servicing at Cambridge Coldhams Lane, and Nottingham Eastcroft. Until a few weeks ago the XC 170s stabled in the station area overnight but XC have signed a contract with UKRL to service them on Beal Street depot overnight.
This cementing relations naming was for that reason.

I heard it was originally going to be called ‘Pride of Derby’ after where it was built, but the city didn’t want to take the blame credit. So they instead had to opt for somewhere the bogs now get emptied.
