Looks like Crossrail is operating - sort of. BBC News' intrepid reporter makes a first journey.

How long to the actual opening, I wonder? TfL still not committing to specific date.

The Elizabeth line is a new railway line that will travel between Essex to Berkshire under central London.

It will increase rail capacity in the city by 10%.

The railway is three-and-a-half years late and billions over budget but it should be open by June.

Watch as transport correspondent Tom Edwards rides a train being tested under central London.

It has been 'operating' for some time - since last May. TfL have indicated it will open (between Paddington and Abbey Wood) by the end of June.

The fact that the BBC have been invited to see what is going on doesn't hasten its opening.
