Thanks tae ye, mon. The following, not my first choice; but, ringing the changes a bit --

Sounds like authorisation-conferring to take part in procedure for altering a train's direction

Poyntzpass in Northern Ireland? (I noted the name when looking up the Jordanstown one!)

Correct. (I like Northern Ireland -- and the other bit too, though that is off-limits for "Cryptic Clues = Station Name".)

Mac to babble -- we read -- in support of capital five hundred: indeed in occidental location.

Is it Cam & Dursley?

Mac to babble (Cam), capital 500 (D - roman numeral) + surely (indeed)

That is brilliant ! -- felt inclined for a moment, to give you it, in place of my own idea. However, I'm going to be hard-nosed and say "no": the correct answer includes no "&", and "in support of" is significant in it.

Hint -- the first element is a non-English English dialect word; but not one from that non-English part of the kingdom, in which the station is located. (Hope that makes sense !)

Ah, OK. In that case, the use of 'occidental' makes me wonder whether this station might be Haverfordwest?

Correct ! "Haver" (pronounced "hayver", not "havver-" as in the station name): Scots dialect word meaning to talk nonsense. "In support of" = for. Capital D -- as got by GusB -- Roman numeral for 500. "Occidental" -- as got by you -- west.

Thanks.

Northwards from an ascending unsharpened pattern, we're flogging a paddock.

Sellafield?
Very good (and very easy, apparently); the 'ascending unsharpened pattern' denotes a musical C major scale - or C scale, or Seascale - to the north of which lies the paddock that we're flogging (i.e. we're going to sell a field = Sellafield).

Thank you, sir. A bit of a lucky guess, in fact -- I have been accurately described as "musically dead", and the "ascending unsharpened pattern" bit meant nothing to me: but clues involving the marketing of outdoor open areas, and pointing to Sellafield, can be perceived as not altogether uncommon in this game...

"I demand swallows sorted" -- sorted ! (Instant response to requirement from citizen pestered by busy summer-visiting birds?)

Here's a "fantasy" parallel -- disguising names in USA terms -- which may give a hint as to this station's identity. Its name when opened, was Dogpatch Hollows; its present-day name is Dogpatch (West Virginia) [to distinguish it from Dogpatch (Iowa)]. In-between-times, a new stop was opened -- it's the next station, three-quarters of a mile up the line -- originally named The Hollows Halt, now just The Hollows.

"Either it's me, or it's my fellow-competitors". The answer is an anagram of "I demand swallows sorted".
