Just a quick one, I am not holding out much hope on it.

My girlfriend was delayed travelling from Bath to Manchester after visiting me last month (July 23rd). The delay was over XC's limit for delay repay (Which I believe is 30 minutes).

However, and this the big thing, she is only now getting around to contacting them and can't remember what train she was actually on. We both have a rough idea that it was the 9am from Bristol Temple Meads, but we can't be sure.

I am going to guess that without knowing for sure, there is no point putting in a claim? If that is the case then is there anyway to check how late that 9am train was, as that should tell us if it was definitely that train or not. Cheers.

Well, she has 28 days to claim, so today is the last day in theory.

May well have to put this down to experience unfortunately. You can try, but don't get your hopes up.

Better organisation needed next time.

There may well be a mark on the ticket saying something like 1E61 or 1M29 - cross country can interpret that code.

For future reference, a number of forum members can provide this information ON THE DAY but not later.

As I'm guessing you had a flexible ticket rather than an advance, send it off today and see what comes back if anything.

Raildar can show past performance of trains, although it's a bit fiddly to dig through (and sometimes just gives no data for a particular day). On Jul 23rd looks like the 9am Bristol-Manchester service was cancelled; and the next XC one at 10am arrived at Manchester 29 mins late.

There are some sites which keep the details of a lot of trains that were delayed solely for the purpose of helping with delay repay claims.

At least one emails you any day when there is a claimable delay/cancellation on a service that you have registered as a route you are interested in. The implaication being that you can claim irrespective of whether it was a train you were on or not.

Personally I can usually work out which day I was delayed on, or alternatively the TOCs historic twitter feed may help, but its hardwork reading some of them!

For the avoidance of doubt, this forum does NOT agree with the making of delay repay/passenger charter claims for journeys that one didn't travel on, but may have a valid ticket for.

This could be viewed as fraud.
