I just got a call to say too many drivers are at the Willesden Junction depot and I have been transferred to New Cross, but May start date stays the same.

Is there anyone else on here who will be at the New Cross depot? I dont want to be all alone  *violins*

Hiya Polls

I have changed depots to New Cross as well, however may start date has now changed to April 19th for me.

Dont worry everyone will be in the same boat starting with a new company like this. I have managed to find accomadation close to the depot quite cheap as I am moving from way up north for this job.

Hi everyone,
The same happened to me as well. I only came across it in my contract.
Are you all looking forward to starting two weeks today at swiss cottage?

Oooh, well done and good luck guys!

I'm excited for you all. I went through what you're about to go through a couple of years ago. Your heads will hurt for the next 6 months or so and you'll hear, "You'll be alright" constantly! You'll also dream of traction and rules, really you will!! At the end of it all, it'll be so worth it and you'll look back on your days of training with fond memories.

Please keep us posted on your progress. Will look forward to updates!;)

Yep am looking forward to it, have got a place close to the depot sorted so first 6 months I am going to be spending a lot of time on the underground.

Are you starting on the same date ?

I have rang them just to change mobile phone number about a week ago, dont worry everything is going ahead as planned. The January course is to be based at NXG from monday 19th, and by the sounds of things they are onto getting their hours in now driving. Which should leave the classrooms and Instructors freed up for our course.

Cant wait to get down next saturday and settle in to my work accom.

Glad to hear it. Seems they are taking on quite a few trainee train drivers for the new cross gate depot.
Well I hope your relocation goes well and see you on 19th at swiss cottage.

hello again polls am sure we will cross paths as the first 3-4 months is primarily based at swiss cottage. Like I say I was also due to start on 17th may, but in exchange for me moving to new cross instead I have an earlier start date. Will be sure to try and say hello when you start keep in touch.

I'm currently two months into training and my head hurts and as stated above I am constantly being told I'll be ok. Doubting it though. Damn it's hard!
Good luck to you all above, make the most of the first 2-3 weeks, they are so so so easy compared to what's coming, lol!!

Hey there,
Which parts are you finding hard? What traction are you learning?

Well first week over and that was the easy bit definately. I have nicknamed it playweek. Half days and starting late in the day.

PTS next week although I do have an advantage over the others having done it a couple of times now as a conductor. Will put a lot into it and also try and help any others I see struggling.

I've been driving on my own for now for 3 months and I have completed most of my route learning now. Saying that I don't envy any of ya ;). Admitanly it's a tough time but all of you will have a laugh along the way and time definatly flies! I found once I was a few months in I started to find it slightly easier as things start falling in to place and you all ready know the basics so your just expanding on that. I'm sure your've heard it a million times but if you want to know anything just let me know.
Oh and again i'm sure your've heard it lots of times but if you don't understand just ask ya trainer, sometimes it scores browny points being honest :)

Get used to it as you will be on your own every day when qualified! It won't take long th gel with the other candidates, go in with an open mind and listen to the instructor, one thing do not try to be a smart ass as this will stick with you and come back to bite you!
