Hi,

I have received some advanced tickets from East coast and noticed in the area of the ticket where it would say Y-P etc on one set is DISC and the other SMGRP - what does this mean and is there a new code for this field?

Thanks!

DISC is generally used for a manually applied discount, in this case possibly the usual East Coast web discount plus your Railcard discount. There should be a discount percentage printed on the ticket as well.

SMGRP probably stands for "Small Group", referring to the discount they're offering for groups of 3 to 9 people when booked online.

Apart from the usual "status" indicators, I've also seen "WEB" on a ticket I bought from East Coast with an 11% discount.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I thought DISC was for railcards, however I didn't enter a rail card discount when I bought the tickets - will the guard demand I present a railcard?

Thanks,

Chris

Not at all. Presumably this is an advance with the usual web discount. No issue.

DISC is a generic code to show that a discount has been applied. This in no way indicates that it was a Railcard discount.
