Never got the courage to try! Lima are such good models, easy to maintain & great on DCC.

I love them! For my price budget & that I work with micro layouts on analogue they're ideal.

I tend to go for the newer blue box models as most have all wheel pickup & (in the case of the 20) a CAN motor mechanism that Hornby still uses in 2022!

Detailing and transfers complete on the GLV. Just some light weathering to do and then rebuild. The end is finally in sight.
Thumper centre car isn't far behind, just needs a couple of extra layers on the body sides to finish the livery off16649895416871497869879.jpg

Loving that @Ted633 - you've done a really good job on that! Looking forward to seeing what it all looks like when it's put together. :)

Thumper centre coach complete. Lighting is a bit off, as I didn't manage to salvage the original and had to make a new light strip (blew the original LED's!). New lights are a bit brighter and a bit more orange, but it looks the part so that's all what matters really.

I'm in the process of creating a cameo diesel fuelling point & tiny service depot. It will serve as the basis for my fictional loco spot hire company "Weeny Works" (weeny meaning tiny). I've always been fascinated by how rail hire companies work so I created my own 1/76 version :). Basically a cheap 60cm Amazon shelf with some wood scenic screwed on the back. I still need to add signage to the building frontage to complete the scene.

IMG20221101111740.jpg

Also have a small pool of diesel locos that have been/are being repainted into Weeny Colours: All over blue with WW logo. In the loco pool we have:

Class 20904
Class 20066
Class 37421 "The Kingsman"
Class 37194 "British International Freight Association"
Class 57305 "Regina" - renamed by me in honour of QEII

Weeny Works fleet.jpg

I'm always open if somebody is interested in loaning one of the locos for some analogue running/photo ops (like a real hire company)

I've had a minor setback with my main project, being that the baseboards I ordered don't quite fit the windowsill. Measure once, buy twice as the saying goes!

So I've ordered a replacement section with 1" trimmed off this afternoon, which leaves me with a "spare" 2'x4' baseboard. What to do with that?
Well, it'll be used for a trench railway diorama in collaboration with a mate who's into military models and history. Still in 4mm scale but with OO9 track and rolling stock.

What an interesting little side project. Nice and small too so you can move it around to work on it.

I've disappeared down several research rabbit-holes in the last few days, that's for sure!

As for my main project (as yet un-named), the freight aspect is taking a backseat due to the limitations of space. The basics (a Yorkshire branch terminus in the late 80s to early 90s) remain the same, but I'm considering a small DMU depot rather than colliery sidings. This may or may not be influenced by recent additions to my fleet!

Not exactly a railway project but for me a nice chance to give some of my OO locomotivesIMG_4589.JPGIMG_4592.JPGIMG_4590.JPGIMG_4589.JPGIMG_4592.JPGIMG_4590.JPG a chance to stretch their legs. I know carpet isn't ideal but they are run on Kato track, which helps.

So I sold my little spot hire depot! Been on the shelf layout creative warpath again!

A British shunting/parcels depot called 'Aylesford Red Star'.

A freelance shortline HO scale Inglenook called 'Little Shelf Terminal Railroad'. Bonus pic of my cute little GE 44 tonner switching as well!

There’s some fantastic modelling in this thread, it’s great to see!

My layout is a little different to those already featured here. It’s called Turtle Bay.

It’s a 009 layout set on a fictional island (New Ross) somewhere in the southern hemisphere in around 1958.

I started building it during the first lockdown in 2020, and it has since been to quite a few shows and has also been featured as a ‘Railway of the Month’ in Continental Modeller.

Turtle Bay - very impressive, congratulations on a superb layout.
Not usually a fan of non-UK layouts, but have changed my mind, well done.

A beautiful layout. 1958 the year I was born.

Has anyone added lights to their triang rolling stock? I've wired up some lighting to my triang dmu power bogie with a stay alive, I'm needing to just figure out the best way to illuminate my non powered vehicle...
As the wheels are plastic I will need to change them for a metal variety to collect power.
Not keen on those mag lights.

Coach lighting.

Reluctant to drill holes and wire throughout the consist. If I buy a non powered dmu I think the later models used a wired bogie to power the headcode lamp. Might try buy one of those and swap the bogies round

Creating a dedicated tiny (& I mean tiny) diorama layout for my Ruston 48DS to operate on. Concept is "loaded wagon out, empty wagon in". I'm planning to cut a hole in the back wall & the slio on the left to allow the operator to pour scale gravel into an open wagon.

Did you make the silo yourself @richw?

Currently knocking up a couple of trees for my friends 0 gauge railway:
539BDB29-26D9-47E8-A65C-A8AA78DEE0F9.jpeg

That’s a 00 gauge VW next to it. Have I basically made a shrub?

That took a hell of a lot of wire!

That's got me wanting to replicate that in OO gauge!

It was very interesting little line and even saw the odd 31 and plenty of local 25s in its final days.

Tonight’s job was to turn the 37 that had packed up into a dummy by stripping the chassis down, removing the motor and drive shafts and then refitting a coupling to the end that I’d originally cut back to get the ploughs on and fit pipes to.

7025D66F-8F54-4FAE-9F3C-4256462A4367.jpeg

A bit fiddly but job done thankfully as we’ve got the Exeter model railway show coming up in a few weeks and everything needs to work properly!

A long day off work today soldering round my dad's layout - a whole load of points needed soldering up, latching relays wiring for the frogs, blades connected, etc. We're almost there (finally!) - only 4 more points to sort, and those are tucked well away in sidings - main and relief line/platfoms/shed entrance all finally under motor control...

My dad is very much a rule 1 modeller, and an avid collector (far too much stock for the available milage!).

Some pics below of parts of his layout - only turned up one further issue with the back to backs of one of the (five...) 9Fs which will sort later ...
