Chaps,

Is this ticket valid via Bromsgrove?

If not, why is this fare set by Crosscountry if Crosscountry do not operate a single service over a permitted route for it?

The £10 Droitwich-Ashchurch Anytime Day Return, and the £8.50 Anytime Day Single, seem to be valid via Bromsgrove when the journey uses the direct trains between Bromsgrove and Ashchurch (one southbound at 1752, and two northbound at 0729 and 0805, Mondays to Fridays). At least, the East Coast website will give me itineraries for those via Bromsgrove journeys with those tickets. There are two direct Bromsgrove-Ashchurch trains each way on Saturdays (when the £9.10 Droitwich-Ashchurch Offpeak Day Return is also offered), but none on Sundays (so you can't use these tickets via Bromsgrove on Sundays).

Would you not be doubling back between Droitwich Spa and Bromsgrove? There are (or at least were) easements that permitted this on journeys to Cheltenham Spa and points further south, but Ashchurch (for Tewkesbury) is before Cheltenham Spa.

Droitwich Spa is not between Bromsgrove and Ashchurch on the direct line. It's on the line to Worcester.

Fair enough; I'm not familiar with the area. As far as routeing is concerned it would only be through trains or shortest route (plus up to 3 miles) permitted as Droitwich Spa is a member of the Worcester group and Ashchurch (for Tewkesbury) has Worcester Group as an associated RP. No idea whether this is why or not, just throwing around possibilities.
