Sat on 1P77 heading to York. Was a pleasant surprise passing it at Cottingley!

What do the carriage interiors look like on the stock being used for this whistle stop round Britain royal rail tour?

Most of the royal train has custom-buillt interiors. From photos I've seen it's only one of the staff cars which has an ordinary first-class type train layout in half of it (kitchen in the other rhald).

Pictures of the current train are towards the bottom of the article. It's fairly plain by Royal Train standards.

An interesting feature in this carriage (apparently) being a bullet-hole in a table from an accidental weapon-discharge a few years back...

Perhaps they were dropped off on the first pass and are now being picked up? Run to Marsden just to get the train out of the way?

It's double backed. HM?
edit: At P8 Huddersfield now at a red (could be a visit or tea time).
Has to be out by about 1655, assuming they don’t hold up the 1700ish Scarborough service booked into 8 (after the stopper has come into 4).

Would make sense for this to be the case

The BBC report says they visited a community centre in Batley.
So maybe the train is now heading back there to pick them up.

What is the point of using the train for something like this? Wouldn't it have made more sense to just drive them around in a car?

It's keeps them in an easily securable 'bubble' and is a lot less disruptive to the general public on congested roads. Involved some required track for William too.

If they are getting on and off at multiple public stations, as they appear to be doing, that really usin't more easily securable than a car!

It's stopped at Batley again, 1K25 behind it wont be happy, it's 17L as it is.
I think the 17L might have something to do with why it's behind and not in front...

Fingers still crossed for a HM layover, as bizaare a wish as that may be!
