Never having redeemed any of points yet, overall I have enough for a second class return trip. Some of my points are due to expire within the next 14 days. I really want to travel at the beginning of September i.e. more than 12 weeks time which currently shows no availability.

If I redeem my points now what's the validity of the voucher?

East Coast do sell tickets between Kings Cross and Newcastle/Edinburgh up to 6 months in advance. I've used up the last of mine so I can't check if rewards tickets are available for that far out.

Remember that stopping short on rewards tickets is not permitted by the T&Cs.

If you redeem your points now then you have until the end of September to book your travel.

Actually we recently discovered you have 6 months from when you redeem to book your tickets.

Originally we were told you have to book by the end of September, but it's only redeem by then.

That means you should redeem your points now (as they're due to expire) and you'll then have 6 months to book them by.
