Thought I'd share these pictures I took this evening of East Yorkshire LF71 DKV having been repainted by Meridan Coachworks in York and looking rather stunning!

Looks like the service is well and truly falling apart with a whopping 250 cancellations listed on the website for yesterday (Sat 8 Oct). I see the MD was in the media in the past couple of weeks blaming it all on “a national shortage of drivers” but surely the biggest question is why retention at EY is so poor? Either way, a really poor fall from grace when corridors that used to have 10 minute frequency can now barely manage one bus an hour.

Changes from 23rd October:

54/56/57/104/154 reduced to operate every 30 mins

66 reduced to every 20 mins (the 66 have been really badly hit in the last week or so, some days have seen no bus to or from Hessle Square for over 3 hours)

Service 54: Buses will run to a revised frequency of up to every 30 minutes Monday – Saturday daytime, no changes to the evening frequency. See the Service 54 timetable here.

Service 56: Buses will run to a revised frequency of up to every 30 minutes Monday – Saturday daytime, providing a combined 15-minute frequency with service 57 to and from Longhill/Asda. On Sundays buses will run up to every hour during the day, providing a combined 30-minute frequency with service 57. A revised evening timetable will be in operation. See the Service 56 timetable here.

805 has been in body shop with an unidentified Gemini, possibly 755 though I have been unable to confirm, in paint shop

Someone mentioned to me it was 735 although they could be mistaken.

Any idea if 929 will be a write-off following the really bad accident last week

If it's a write off, where will they source a replacement bus from, somewhere else in Go North East or place an order for a new bus?

805 has gone to Meridian for repaint. 755 is now out of paint shop with 739 and 809 currently being worked on.

Any idea if 809 is going in to standard livery? It would be an OCD headache if 804/5/6/7/9 are in 121 branding and 808 isn’t
I'm not sure at the moment, they have only just started 809, though given 816 is the Eastrider spare I would guess standard livery

On the topic of the Eastrider branding, when it's decided to select an existing vehicle in the overall bus fleet to go into the branding, how long on average does it take to retrofit the next stop announcement system into the vehicle?

That is a good question, I don't know but will see what I can find out.

Thanks for the reply. Fingers crossed they do 808 and not 809 or Brid based 815

929 has returned from accident repair
Good to know. I thought from the initial pictures it looked quite bad. Hopefully the driver is okay now too.

Do you know if 363 was accident damaged at the start of October? Or is this off road due to known reliability issues with the Centro’s and awaiting parts

I'm not aware of 363 having had an accident, I know some buses are off the road awaiting parts, it might be because of that.

741 is in body shop with 740 in paint shop. This just leaves 732/3/5/6/8 still to do of the 08 Geminis. Painter Les Taylor has retired after 43 years working for EY

As the 07s and 08s are being reliveried at whatever cost, makes you wonder how long they intend to keep them on the road, and hence how long it will be before the fleet starts becoming fully electric.

I believe the 07s and 08s are intended for replacement in about 4-5 years time. I can't see us getting electric buses until the depot in Hull has moved.

Appears 808 and 811 are both away for body work and painting. 808 in to EastEider branding and 811 in to standard livery

Believe 808 is still at Anlaby road and 811 is down in Tyseley Birmingham receiving heavy maintenance may even be to sort repeat faults out and bodywork possibly all the 800s going down one at a time

I've just returned from seeing family in Clacton-On-Sea. It was very strange to see East Yorkshire Enviro 200's in deepest Essex.

Yeah I know what you mean, I don't know why they bothered repainting them when they got rid of them a short time later

Yes, it does seem wasteful, especially given they will probably get a repaint into Hedingham livery soon if they are to be a permanent addition to the fleet.

Though, I doubt East Yorkshire would want them back after the abuse Hedingham will give them.
