Engineering work on the Wakefield line, hence still had to do the Yorkshire tour

The line is still blocked, the 1w20 set needs rescuing by another set.
The line is blocked until at least 9am on both up and down at Bawtry, can imagine it will actually be longer.
Going to be another poor day on ECML.
You been up all night? . Sounds like a big job..

I've travelled back from work in London to Hull hundreds of times in the last 10 years and, fortunately, I have only ever needed to abandon my journey once (that was due to heat causing problems). Luckily I had somewhere to go that evening and travelled back the following day. If I ever get in that situation again I have two questions:-

1. If there's a total closure of Kings X is the best route back to Hull to go St Pancras EMR to Sheffield, then any service to Doncaster and then on to Hull (or direct Sheffield to Doncaster if available)
2. Presumably if that isn't possible due to, say, problems at St Panc then it's a matter of hanging around until LNER (or whoever) sort out alternative arrangements.

That's possibly the best alternative route, but if there is a total closure those trains will be extremely busy.

Alternative routes starting from Euston might be possible.

In both cases it very much depends on what the nature and location of the disruption is as to what alternatives may be appropriate.

Any idea what hit the pantograph to cause all this chaos?
Haven't heard what the cause was. The driver reportedly heard a bang, then thought if they hear another one they'll stop and report it. However, by then it's too late, there's an ADD activation and the damage to the OLE has occurred. 1W20 merely happened to be a victim of circumstance, by being there at the same time I believe.

Thanks. I'll look at Euston as a possible alternative route for if I ever need it.

It does depend on ticket acceptance being in place so each case is treated on its merits.
