Heads up that this stretch of track (normally only served by one train on Sundays) is being served by EMT services all day on Saturday 25th April.

Excellent opportunity for anyone requiring it.

I shall have to make arrangements to visit some family in the area then, thanks for the heads up!

I've actually already had that route, on a pair of 37s, so won't me required for me!

I did it many years ago. Back in BR days, weren't most loco hauled Birmingham - Norwich services routed that way?

Yes, wasn't till the launch of the 'Express' network in May 88 that it ceased use when Ely became the main interchange following withdrawl of LHCS on these routes.

Strange really as whatever work they are doing doesn't affect CC or GA services over Ely North Junction

If you look at the weekend before, XC and LE services are affected. Looks like they have still not put the alterations into journey planners for the 25th April.

There are several weeks of engineering work and they aren't all the same. The block on the west curve week is between Ely North and Ely. Other weeks see EMT turning around at Peterborough if I remember correctly

There are 2 weekends of EMT on the West Curve. The 18th has all the alterations in where as the 25th seems to have some missing.
