534’s on it’s way back to Tyseley - strangely enough it’s left Crewe without any decals. Probably to avoid confusion with EMR services.

Seems as though you were right - found this next to the TOPS plate on 505View attachment 94989
No worries! I knew I saw it somewhere before but got my wires crossed when someone mentioned Bescot! Yeah they also did the ATW 175 repaint back in 2009, but since then I’m unsure as to whether they’ll have done anything - most of that kind of work is now in the hands of WidnesThat answers that one then, Thanks! I know Oxley have done a few paint jobs in the past, including the FMRail Blue Pullman Mk2s, 86259 "Les Ros" and a few other locos and units.
Could be waiting a while then.Being used on WMR services whilst issues with the 196s are being ironed out.
That’s interesting, looks weird with the logo though.WMR has posted on Twitter and Facebook about the purple 170's. Interestingly the image shows the WMR logo applied on the unit where the EMR Regional logo would be. link to twitter post
Post:
'You will start to notice some of our Class 170's have had a new paint job. It is still us (for now), but we are prepping to send them to
@EastMidRailway
. Until then, they will remain in our service until our new trains arrive to help with capacity'

Here talk that TfW will be leasing a 170 to EMR soon. Anyone have any further info?
Is it long term? Will TfW be receiving something else from EMR given their current fleet shortage?

As i said in my post. "I hear talk". Talk from someone who works for TfW but can't verify if it's definite, hence asking the question here.We need to establish if this just talk or definite first before we go onto the other questions. Have you a source for the info ?

And a chance for TfW to pick up some more clapped out 153s in exchange? It's feasible because EMR are desperate for some more 170s in order to release some 156s to Northern and the 170s which they should be receiving in turn from WMT are delayed due to the all too familiar situation as a result of the new builds WMT Class 196s showing little sign of entering service in the near future.
They’re more likely to receive more from Scotrail as opposed to TfW - I’m pretty sure with the reduced Covid timetable etc they won’t need all 34 of them to maintain the timetable...It's feasible because EMR are desperate for some more 170s in order to release some 156s to Northern and the 170s which they should be receiving in turn from WMT are delayed due to the all too familiar situation as a result of the new builds WMT Class 196s showing little sign of entering service in the near future.

2-car 170 in new livery worked off Etches Park as 5P99 and formed 1P99 Derby-Kettering.EMR mentioned in a company magazine back in March that they were introducing 4 170s at the May Timetable. I have to agree that it does seem like they need more.
That would make sense, and would be less confusing.Believe 2 more 170s are coming to EMR next Thursday but don't know what numbers. Could be 2 that are working WMT services in EMR colours?
Saw same combo (former in purple) at Wellington today heading towards Birmingham New Street.170503 and 170501 on the 09-00 Birmingham to Shrewsbury viewed through Coseley this morning
Pre covid the Fife circle services had been loco hauled on and off so they will probably want to go for 170s there. They’re more likely to receive more from Scotrail as opposed to TfW - I’m pretty sure with the reduced Covid timetable etc they won’t need all 34 of them to maintain the timetable...
Only if there's also something suitable to haul them. Originally tfw wanted to replace the 67s with 68s didn't they? That's another multiple working conversion.Could always loco haul convert some more Mk.4s to run around somewhere suitable to free up some more turbostars, assuming that they haven't all been scrapped.
I think it’s going to be a long time before any of the 171s are able to leave Southern for EMR, seems like trying to get a universal Turbostar regional fleet is going to become more of an aspiration rather than ever becoming reality. They have a veritable wolf pack of ex EMR dogboxes rolling around their network already
Not heard about it but it wouldn't surprise me, the internal rumour mill had various options being looked at including ScotRail 156s on a temporary basis.
The one thing EMR are desperately short of are 3 car trains following the current non-appearance of the GTR 17x units - they were meant to supply various centre cars. 153s are mooted to be kicking around till September but after that only having 5 3 car units could prove problematic given the number of wedged 2 car diagrams (pre COVID - many of them are schoolkids services which don't look like being impacted by COVID and already are back in the 3 figures).
Some 68s have AAR I believe for the Chiltern Mk.3 rakes. I don't seem to remember their MU working being changed.Only if there's also something suitable to haul them. Originally tfw wanted to replace the 67s with 68s didn't they? That's another multiple working conversion.
That'll be a 196 test runhttps://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/G69048/2021-05-11/detailed.
Something on the move tonight?
