Slightly OT but what would have replaced them? There were no orders placed by SE as far as I can recall.

It was thought likely (due to relatively low interest rates/leasing costs) that a large order of Aventras would be placed to achieve a wholesale fleet replacement once the SE franchise was awarded on a longer term basis. We’re in a different world now of course! No bad thing, the networkers are perfectly adequate for purpose and have life left in them.

However I’m conscious we’re now drifting off the topic of EMR 360s!

The SE 375s are in decent nick, it's the Networkers and 376s which are looking "tired"
The 375s are the least worst alongside the 395s. Both fleets are dirty inside and out and the 375s often feel like they're falling apart, with moquette badly fitted to the seats and broken armrests and seat-back tables.

If SE had ordered something similar to SWR's 701s, as next in the Aventra queue, then God knows when they would be delivered and in service :D

Now that the repaint programme is drawing to a close, is there any word on the interior refurbishment of the 360s? Or has the contract still yet to be tendered?

Most likely to maximise the numbers available with this weekend’s predicted traffic levels. Not that they’ve been lived up to (so far).
From what I’ve seen, most (if not all) connect services have been 8 cars this weekend, although I can imagine the odd 4 car has managed to sneak its way out on the MML.

I too was wondering about the insides.
The 360s are roughly 20 years old, so correct timing for mid life refurbishment.

But will it be more of a token refresh than trying to match the corporate look of an 810 with similar style decor and seats (similar, not exactly same). The 360s will be doing good part of 100 mile journeys and there is a fair chance they could end up working semi-fast trains to East Midlands sometime within next 20 years.

110 is sitting on 3 Road at KDS. It goes to Eastleigh on Friday. Drivers side headlight and marker currently covered over with white bag as they have fell out of mount and there is a wee bit of a draft in the cab

Reading the latest issue of Modern Railways it quotes EMRs fleet director on the 360 refurbishment...

"We've had to fix the scope to the right cost - we're operating in a totally different environment compared to when the project was conceived"

It goes on to say that they would love to see a full refurbishment but it's likely to be a bit less and goes on say examples of the but less may be no new seats and retaining the 3 + 2.

Not very impressive in my view. I can accept costs may only pay for new seat covers and carpets etc except other fleets like the Pemdolino's are getting the full refurbishment.

The current seats are actually some of the better ones out there, albeit 3+2 clearly isn’t ideal.

Indeed - it’s an absolute joke. EMR had 3 years to get their ducks in a row regarding this refurbishment, and once again the East suffers whilst the West thrives… hard to believe these are what replaced the 222s!
