So i reckon it might have been an Alternator failure or a Traction Motor Flashover, (that caused the engine fire) that's just a guess though.
Heard it was the traction alternator that had a "thermal incident" causing the main fire bottles to deploy on 68013.

Re 66779. That couldn't have been in the equation because reading various forums it suffered an "incident" with stop blocks at Birch Coppice recently causing minor damage, and has been hauled by 66742 to Progress Rail at Longport to be straightened out. Sounds like the mention of 66779 was a little maliciousness to me.

There is only one alternator on a 68 - unlike many older locos, they don't have separate traction / aux / ETS alternators.

68013 (and also 68012) now appear to be at Crewe Gresty Bridge TMD for repairs, seen as 0K69 with 66302 hauling.
I believe it was 68012 that lead 68013 & 66302. Presumably 66302 has some issues too as it was replaced by 66122 this morning
