The loco and set diagrams are now given different diagram numbers and it does seem to happen where the set gets taken off and the loco doesn't, happened the other day too where a 67+197 was shown but with no coaches. It isn't possible to couple and run in service so anytime that shows can be sure it won't run like that.
Thanks for the explanation

Dave

Any ideas what this 67 is?

67014. Most of the TfW light engine moves do have the loco number as rhe last 2 digits of the headcode.

67025 is also heading down on this. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:36630/2024-01-15/detailed

Any 5-car sets out this week?
Potentially. Both HD01 and HD03 are nearing the end of exams. HD01 has some electrical gremlins on the additional coach which require some investigation before it's allowed out and HD03 requires a shakedown run after so long out of use.
67021 is currently powering HD03 so it'll need a loco change before it can go anywhere too as that's not a TfW modified one.

HD07 is also now at Crewe for lengthening and exam after having a run via Chester and Shrewsbury this morning to turn it.

Would this be what ran 5T01 this morning?

Ahh that’s what it was doing ! I had been wondering why it was heading from Crewe through Chester this morning.

Keeping fingers crossed that we see 3 sets get out with 5 coaches in fairly short succession. But as always, we shall see.

That's a lot of fuel used to turn a train. Can't it turn via the triangle near Gresty Bridge at Crewe?
Believe it was also a shakedown run for the 67.
These type of runs are rarely wasted either and normally end up used for various bits of training and/or testing too.

Or even on the Chester triangle, right outside the TfW/CAF depot...
Only Chester drivers sign that, and they don't sign 67s. It's TfW policy that only loco qualified drivers can pilot the 67, so you can't even get around it that way - plus you'd need to change ends by walking trackside in a 3rd rail area which is never a great idea either.

Any Progress on the exams today?
Can't say for the exam specifically but it's looking like next week is now more likely than this week for the 5 cars.
Sure I could copy and paste that most weeks the way its going!

To amend this post.

HD01 is now ready to go, it's planned for a final test run tomorrow from Crewe to Hereford and back and if that's successful it will enter service as a 5 car set on Saturday working:

07:09 Crewe to Cardiff
10:52 Cardiff to Crewe
15:11 Crewe to Cardiff
18:55 Cardiff to Crewe

HD01s test run now running https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:37643/2024-01-19/detailed so looking promising for tomorrow.

First class is very nice - luckily the 1630 Manchester to Swansea was a MK4, i heard on a Facebook group that another MK4 had to be rescued outside Cardiff . I waited until this morning to book my ticket after checking RTT and hoped it wouldn't change. It goes to show how quickly things can change.

The 1649 Cardiff to Manchester was substituted for a two car 197.

Is this diagram still expected to run tomorrow?

The bits between Cardiff and Crewe, yes thats still down for 5 car HD01. No TfWs Crewe to Manchester this weekend but it just shunts to the depot in the Downtime so the rest of the diagram is the same.

There's also a 4 car set planned to be out and scheduled to work
04:35 Cardiff to Crewe
09:11 Crewe to Cardiff
12:52 Cardiff to Crewe
17:11 Crewe to Holyhead

The other diagram will be substituted due to 67008s failure earlier

Thank you.

Any reason why the 0532 Swansea has been a separate service between Swansea and Cardiff and Cardiff to Manchester this week?

Looks like the ECS was booked via Barry and the VOG which the 197 its currently booked for arent yet fully route cleared so was a 158 booked to do it just to Swansea and back.
