There’s a couple of Liverpool - Norwich EMT services in the morning that stop at Hunts Cross to pick-up only, I think. Not sure how (or if) that is enforced!
Is this also the only service from Berrylands that doesn't start or end at Hampton Court?Anyone want to travel on a semi-fast service from either Raynes Park, New Malden or Berrylands to Woking? Well you can. There is a train after midnight. It departs 0:53 from Berrylands. Earlier from the other two.
Following Surbiton the only other stops are West Byfleet and Woking.

Some years ago the last train of the day from Swindon to Gloucester via the Stroud valley line did not stop at any of the intermediate stops (Kemble, Stroud, Stonehouse). I got on it by mistake once, trying to get to Stroud, and ended up sailing through where I wanted to be and having to walk the 10 miles back from Gloucester to Stroud at midnight.
Correct, there's no return working.1C56 1512 York to Barrow in Furness via Leeds, Calder Valley and Copy Pit. No return working unless I am mistaken
Though it is nice to hear your memories, the particular working in the quote is not old, it's an unusual extension of the Leeds-Preston service so runs via Halifax and is usually a 158 from what I understand. This service takes the unit across the Pennines for it to be used on Barrow to MIA duties I believe.Old one this. It was the days of modernisation DMUs, so probably 1970's or 1980's There was an early morning Carnforth -York via Preston, Man Vic, & Leeds. Cant remember if via Halifax or huddersfield.
Did they stable DMU at Carnforth then?
Why did I chuck out my NRTT's?![]()

The 1747 SX Glasgow Central to Ayr calls at Paisley Gilmour Street and is then fast to Irvine, the only Ayr service to miss out Kilwinning I believe.
It's quite unusual as fast services to Ayr are normally non-stop to Kilwinning, missing a Paisley call, though an evening peak Ayr service not calling at Kilwinning seems to have been a feature of Ayrshire timetables for some years.
Alternatively, go there on Sunday 17th March and there’s a service every 15 minutes all day, due to engineering works at Clapham Junction. On London Overground, there are two MF trains that start from Battersea Park instead of Clapham Junction (06.33 and 23.03 to Dalston Junction) and one MF train that terminates at Battersea Park instead of Clapham Junction (22.04 ex-Dalston Junction, arrives 22.47). These are to retain drivers' route knowledge as trains can be diverted to Battersea Park in an emergency, or during engineering work.
Still that's the only direct service from Guildford to Berrylands. The 2307 Guildford to London Waterloo service looks like it calls at all the stations including Berrylands

Believe there was also a morning peak Ayr service which skipped Kilwinning too. Abolished years ago I believe.
From Glasgow it is Paisley to Irvine, but on the inbound from Ayr it was oddly Irvine then Glengarnock.
That is quite a strange stopping pattern. Was it non-stop from Glengarnock to Central then?
Also, out of curiosity - which year was this?
I know it was before 2015, unsure when it finished
Thanks anyway. I ask, because while I've known of the evening Glasgow-Ayr that doesn't call at Kilwinning, this other service is new to me.
This service would actually be really good if it was still running, Kilwinning gets a lot of Glasgow trains in the morning now.
Kilwinning certainly isn't shy of trains!
Kilwinning is a busy station, especially off peak. I do feel that the Kilwinning - Largs section should get another train, as Largs trains are relatively busy.
Correct. It takes ~17 minutes to do Saltcoast to Largs. Hence, one can't get 4tph through that section. Can they do that with the single passenger line from Saltcoats to Largs? I thought that was one of the reasons Largs is still only hourly.
