So, a trial timetable day? It says planned 75mph maximum, using any from cl 150, 153, 155 or 156. 75mph on the longest straight stretch in Devon......

Hmm, the paths do not seem to include a Sampford Courtenay call. Is that likely to be the final plan?

No idea, but the downhill average speed of 45mph to Crediton and the tight turnrounds at Okehampton suggest there is no margin for one ATM.
They are also missing on Sundays.

BTW I am impressed that they have been able to path most of the trains through to Central, contrary to previous reports.

But not Yeoford yet, as this will require upgrading the disused platform.

My understanding is that Sampford Courtenay platform requires work to bring it up to standard, which is not currently included in the route infrastructure enhancements.

If the majority of the services (including the morning and evening peak services) had not gone through to Exeter Central they might as well have not bothered to reopen it.

It won’t necessarily be the 16th of May. The paths are in the timetable from that date as it is the changeover date nationally, but the actual service may not commence until a later date aligned with works completion and sufficient driver training undertaken. They’ll probably be redated shortly or cancelled off weekly by short-term planning amendment until the actual start date, similar to how station reopenings are initially planned to align with timetable change dates and then amended to come online from the actual opening date in practice.

I couldn't see them on the 16th but on the 17th Starting Exeter Central, St Davids, Crediton and Okehampton only taking 43 minutes. 46 minutes if it stops at Newton.

Okehampton is on real time. First train 2R51 07.20 arrive Central at 08.05 That's a good time for commuters.

Which is why they were planned to go to central!

Thank goodness the siren voices calling for them to terminate at the St Davids Bay Platform 2 for reasons of operational convenience were not listened to.

Terminating Barnstaple/Ilfracombe aervices there in the late sixties helped kill the Ilfracombe line.

I'm amazed that the single line between Cowley and Crediton has that many spare paths on it ? 8 Trains PD Okey, How many to Barn? Plus leaving space for, say 1 up and down ballast per day at some point. - Are they going to combo and split at Crediton?
Are these 159 SWR extensions or "new" use of GWR 150's ( or what ever?)

If you follow the real-time trains links provided earlier you’ll find they’re additional and GWR services.

Also, a search on Crediton shows they are separate services:

It's only 7-8 minutes to clear Crediton - Cowley Junction there's plenty of time to clear the section in a half hour service.

Are the number of services showing in RTT going down again now? Not exactly unusual of course, as everything gets fine tuned. I guess that day‘s service in post #14 gives us an idea what’s still likely to happen eventually?

Thank You !

I suppose Topsham - Exmouth can cope ( a lot longer single line section) with a train every 1/2 hour, so Cred - Cowley should as well ! Guess I'm over thinking it :)
