SOT - SHR

Open Return = £12.20
Saver Return = £13.70

Surely that can't be correct? And if it is, anybody think of any reasons why such a situation might exist?

There is no Standard Open Return for that journey, the price you've quoted is correct for a Standard Day Return.

First Open Returns do however exist for that journey, but are priced higher accordingly.

Interestingly, the Saver is code '8A', which is "By any train" which makes it absolutely as valid as a SDS, except with a month's validity - so it is, effectively like a Standard Day Return for the outward journey, and a Standard Open Return for the return portion.

For a Y-P holder, the Saver will be £9.05 at all times, but the SDR will be undiscounted pre-10:00 and then reduce to £8.05 after 10:00.

So, in this case, the 'Saver' is the peak ticket, and the SDR the off peak ticket (for railcard holders)!

Another one if someone could cure my curiosity!
Any ideas why a Leighton-Loughborough saver, set by Virgin, is valid any train? All other VT savers are 1000ish boundary, and MML fares are similar. Can't see MML being too happy with savers able to be used out of Bedford northbound at 0700!!

MML first morning off peak train is the 0925 fast service. Leighton Buzzard - Loughborough? How would that effect Bedford?

Leighton-Bletchley-Bedford-Loughborough routing. Also presumably applies to other Silverlink stations.
