I was bored and thought I'd have a bit of fun. Does anyone have any favourite individual members of classes? For example, I like 150249 because it was the first train I ever travelled on and the first train i ever went in the cab of, I like 143617 because it was the last pacer i travelled on and I always marked it down as a pacer that didn't squeak as much as the others, I like 802114 because it is the newest GWR IET, its always been the nicest, it is the only IET I have ever been in the cab of and it was the first IET I ever travelled on. I also like 50044 because it was leading the first railtour I ever saw.

I'm really tired so I don't know if any of this made any sense but are there any trains that others on this thread like due to personal events or memories etc.

25063 was my favourite class 25 because I travelled more miles behind it than any other of it's class. Similarly 26039, D1023 and 40118.

At one point 365512 was my favourite, simply as it retained dimmer lighting.

As a locomotive systems engineer, I find that some vehicles have particular quirks; often a result of decades worth of service and modifications.

Too many vehicle numbers to narrow it down - but it makes the day job interesting!

It really irritates me more that it should that so many model manufacturers number their models as "first in series", to the point that I paid extra to have my WYPTE 158 renumbered to 158910 as opposed to 158901.

Back on topic, I'm not that big on recording numbers on the big railway these days but 150150 always stood out, as does 323232.

Do you mean as in first built, or first introduced to squadron service?

466022 after catching it on my commute as the Bromley North shuttle for 2 weeks or so back in the 2010s. First time i noticed getting on the same train more than once!

That and every member of class 43!

455912 and 455913, because of their unusual histories.

and as it took me less than a year to see my first 21 Deltics, and over a year more before I saw the last one (the only one I never saw with its "D" number), I have a soft spot for that too.

I'm intrigued. Which Deltic was it!

How does anybody remember the first ever train they went on??
I never really travelled on any trains before I became interested, so I recorded the first train I had for haulage, 158790, so I will always have a soft spot for that one (there must have been less than 5 trains that I travelled on before that, that I won’t remember)

Nowadays I like 158773 because the aircon is bliss, and 222015 simply because it’s my highest mileage 222 to date

507 008 was very enjoyable with its super loud motors at one end until its withdrawal.

Also pretty much any 37/4 on the Fort William sleeping cars was a joy to behold, from an enthusiasts point of view especially on the southbound when the seats were at the front.

If it was 427 we had to turn the fire alarms off in the front coach in the morning as they kept being set off otherwise :D

170401, I remember it being named when I was kid and I frequently seemed to come across it at Queen Street or when going over to Edinburgh.

I've had a few:

It felt like 101676 was following me around for a while, it turned up every day at one point.

144018 was pictured in a book I had as a kid and it turned up quite frequently on my later commutes, including one day where it broke down and I spent a long while on it. It was also the last one I travelled on with bus seats.

I'd say 150275 has taken the place of old 101676 and follows me around frequently. I smile when it pulls in, "not again!" :)
