My user title says enough, methinks :D

I don't think I'll be going into anything else on a public forum :P

I'm not like that myself, but you can at least rest easy knowing that you are not alone here! I'm sure that some of the responses that come up here, assuming of course this thread gets a sizeable amount of responses, may be unique to the poor sap who promotes them...

For the record, I don't really have a fetish of any kind.

Come again? :?

Possibly only unique as far as people being unwilling to say things on a public forum, which is understandable.

Thrash and clag. Now that's something which is loud and dirty (especially from a beast like 37906).

although not strictly a fetish, I am attracted to tall women (in a non-stalkerish way i hasten to add!)

I also like a revving engine under my seat, in a 158 (or a Volvo Ailsa..i can dream :))

Well there is a higher surface area per unit volume to attract you ;) (assuming this hypothetical woman is unlike a sphere)

Pacers over jointed track not CWR track :p

Also, I have a shoe fetish too, womens shoes yet I am gay and don't even like woman, how strange is that :?

I am keeping this clean by the way I'm just being wiser than some peoples fetishes would blurt out on to a forum

Would I call that strange? No not really, we are all human, all the same, we just like different things, doesn't make me an alien:?

As for me personally, thrashing and clagging works for me, steam engines work for me and anything strange on the rails at the moment.

Now what I mean by that before anyone inserts a dirty joke (glares are MCR247, MattE2010 etc.) if there is some strange rolling stock that come through my area

Give you one guess what doesn't float my boat though

For obvious reasons, I'm going to be selective about what I post here...Although I will admit to having several "fetishes", both railway and non-railway related!
(Although of course, the railway related "fetishes" are purely matters of preference...They definitely don't do anything for me that any personal fetishes should... ;))

Anyhow...Railway "fetishes":
  • Valenta'd 43s, Class 158s/159s, 370s, 390s, 442s, and the APT-E,
  • Obscene running speeds
  • Obscene running speeds around tight corners with high G-forces on tilting rolling stock
  • Obscene running speeds around tight corners with high G-forces on tilting rolling stock whilst listening to suitably paced Epic Scandinavian Metal... <D
  • Almost any rolling stock running 150% over safe maximum speed on fishplated roads and over complex, rattly junctions,
  • Consists over 50 vehicles long running above 225mph,
  • Market Harborough at 375mph heading Northbounde,
  • Heavy industrialised kettles designed more for function than for looks - The BR 9F especially,
  • Most rollercoasters built by Bollinger & Mabillard, Switzerland (Aye, they do count as "railways" by dictionary definition! :))
Non railway "fetishes" (The following - Of course - Empower only my Spirit, not certain other parts of my being!)
  • Black/Death/Doom/Gore/Extreme Metal,
  • Gratuitous Gore and Bloodshed (Which I satisfy in a perfectly acceptable manner using video games and Gore movies. :))
  • Close-combat Weaponary, esp. Swords, Axes, Chainsaws and other Bladed items - The sharper, more vicious and Bloodthirstier, the better! <D
  • Vast, dense, Ancient Forests and other Arboreal Kingdoms,
  • High, icy, boreal mountain ranges,
  • Ancient fortifications from the Middle Ages and previous times. (Although a lot of WWII fortifications interest me greatly, too. :))
  • Extreme speeds in the magnitude of hundreds of thousands of miles per second. <D
Although I don't know if that's purely because of the speed itself, or because the sheer velocities involved would literally tear the flesh off of the bones of anything on board at the time! <D
Personal fetishes:
  • Sorry...Not on this forum! ;)
Pacers over jointed track not CWR track :p
Strangely enough, that happens to be one of my railway "fetishes" too! :!:
Do ye by any chance find the feeling of any train (I.E: A Pendo) flying along rough track enjoyable? In my case, I find that virtually any rolling stock (Although Pacers especially) flying along fishplated roads and badly aligned junctions (The faster, the better) a lot of fun...Although in my case I think it might be something to do with the thrill and the feeling that the train could bounce off of the track and derail at any moment! <D

As to my other railway "fetishes", I believe ye guys already know full well my preference for obscene running speeds and obscene running speeds around tight corners with high G-forces on tilting stock, so I don't need to expand on that I think. 8-)

Also, I have a shoe fetish too, womens shoes yet I am gay and don't even like woman, how strange is that :?
Call this a supposition if ye will, but I'd guess that it might be for the same reasons that women go mad over the same thing. IME the majority of gay men seem to share a lot of traits and interests with the opposite sex, especially where fashion is concerned. It might be why so many male interior designers are themselves homosexual. :)

I have a real passion for technology, obviously trains but also mac computers! how much better are they than microsoft computers!!!
With the sincerest hope that ye aren't an Apple fanboy, please remember that it's all a matter of opinion. Like ye I enjoy my computers quite a bit, but Macs (And all Apple products in general) drive me round the bend because they are seemingly deliberately engineered to prevent the user from doing anything technical on them. Have ye ever tried getting a Bash console* up in MacOS X?:roll:
* - Aye, there IS a Bash console in Mac OS which exposes a standard BSD console...But it's so deeply buried in Finder that ye need instructions, roadmap and a top-line GPS to be able to find it. And don't get me started on enabling root access on a Mac! :o

Anyhow...To finish off this post, I have to copy something out of one of Nigel Rees' series of books in which he documents certain pieces of witty graffiti...

I love knickerless Parsons!!!
Now THAT'S what I call a fetish!!!

And there I was thinking I was the only person who prefers Microsoft to Apple!!!!!

Personally, I'm in two minds on that point. I much prefer Microsoft OSs pre-Vista as user environments (IMO, WinXP Professional is the best one they've done yet!) but I'd rather use a Linux based system for it's free, Open-Source nature, better stability, and excellent community support. If someone released a Linux GUI or Distro that emulated the look, feel and features of XP Pro as close as possible without breaching Microsoft's IPR, I'd move to that Linux distro overnight! <D

Back to the age old Windows v. Apple debate: It's all a matter of personal user preference. As I've said, I prefer Windows to Mac for many valid reasons, but the arguments for Mac over Windows are equally as valid in many cases. :)

Despite my personal dislike of Macs and their "Engineered to thwart end-user maintenance" nature; That same "non techy" nature of a Mac makes it perfect for those users who dislike or are afraid to get into the meat and bones of their computer. Though it would go against my own principles, an iMac is probably the first computer I would recommend to my mother if ever she asked me to find a machine for her use. :)

I was a fan of Apple (not a fanboi though - I did remain realistic) but that relationship has cooled significantly. Certainly not keen on the idea of App Stores and the Walled Garden (which wasn't as strong when I bought my iBook in 2005)

Mind you older PowerPC Apple hardware was bloody good though - not in terms of spec but it would last for years - my iBook is still in daily use 6 years on - but innovations like soldered batteries are fine on portable devices like a £100 ipod - but are a different matter on a £1200 Macbook - my ibook has needed a replacement battery and I'll probably retire it when that dies completely (mostly because it's struggling with modern AJAX websites - 1.2Ghz PPC with 768MB ram)

BTW most of my fetishes are listed on Fetlife (NSFW) but I'm not saying my username ;)

It's more of the bouncing around on a pacer at speed :D

good point though Colin, though I don't think I'll be a designer though gosh

Another rail fetish actually is H-O at 125 :D especially through Box Tunnel or Severn Tunnel...(: err what's the code for the devil face emoticon again? Colin will know!)

Cheers,

James.

I'm sure it's due to this post by you that an advert for high heeled shoes keeps appearing in the adverts at the top of pages on the forum. And now they've started to appear on Youtube too! Aargh, I do not want any women's shoes, honest!

Sorry!! I didn't do it! The advert above this post is actually a Virgin Media ad...so there is some variety in adverts!

I think it is an OK thread to be honest, as theblackwatch says, as long as it's clean then I can't see why anyone would need to hide it really but it is up to the individual. In reality it's not wrong, I feel safe to post it here, whereas if I said it at work (bar the pacers and H-O bit, they wouldn't know what it is) then they'd think I was some form of alien :s

Why? I don't know, some people seem to be against their own race :(

Urgh. No kidding. There are several of them that are appearing. One even has something about women's lingerie (how has that not come up yet?!)...

I've just cursed us to face Ann Summers adverts, haven't I? <(

I've not got any fetishes as such, although I'm obsessed with things being clean and anything paranormal.

And about the adverts, I'm getting Sky TV ads..

Book Micheal Portillo and Visit New York here...

Need to get ABP reinstalled!

Micheal Portillo, well whatever turns you on (which is suppose is the idea!).

I once managed to give an ex (I wonder why) girlfriend the idea that I thought the sound of Paxman Valentas, Deltics and Thumpers at full power was better than sex.

I'd have to agree with her sentiments there - only a 12CSVT could possibly be better than sex :)

Moving on, I'm quite partial to a bit of fur....not too much though.
