Thinking about it, I don’t have a great deal of Bachmann rolling stock at the moment. First powered Bachmann product I got was the Regional Railways liveried 158 about ten to twelve years ago. It turns out that it was perfectly natural for the directional lighting to be “a little bit flickery” and that the lighting circuits should have been left well alone… I’ll get those wires reconnected and the lights up and running again some day…

To this day I'm still massively impressed with just how smooth running the Bachmann 158s are. Superb models.

I think my first Bachmann model was 158702 (Regional Railways/Scotrail), but quickly I had more 158s and models of classes 159, 166, 170, and eventually 220, 221, 37 and 66.

After being faithfull to Hornby for years I bit the bullet and picked up Bachmann DBS 66152 and was hooked. Now got a 47, 221 DMU and a 70 as well. Bachmann are now my first choice!

First Bachmann you say?

My first Bachmann model was a Class57 in Freightliner livery (the Freightliner Challenger one). I got it just under two years ago now. Before that I used to get pretty much only Hornby locos. I was that much impressed that now I get more Bachmanns than anything.

A lot of people have plumped for Bachmann eventually, including myself. Hornby seems to be a second choice for people now. I also have a Bachmann Class 37 [37254] with sound, fantastic loco!

Same here. I was mainly Hornby, with just two Bachmann models (a pair of Ceps), but now with the sale of my Maunsells, I am all Bachmann now. They have a far cheaper retail price in my experience, and their yearly programmes are far more ambitious whereas Hornby seem to be investing more in the Railroad range and trainpacks lately. However, I will be a buyer of Hornby's Vep when it comes out! As an aside, has anyone on here got the Bachmann EPB? I got mine yesterday, and its an absolutely great model! :)

Cruious: How do the Bachmann steam locos compare with Hornbys? Particularly in the case of the A4s.

Thanks.

back in 2001 the price of stuff seems odd. My 1st Bachmann was a class 25 from Holts Models (near Swansea) and it was £35! they were also selling packs of Hornby 3 wagons for £15. this included HAA hoppers which if I'd known now how much they sell for I'd have bought the lot!!!!!!

My first Bachmann was 60019 'Bittern', quite weirdly only last Christmas! Bachmann, where have you been all my life! :)
