I saw a 75 branded E400MMC on the 21 last night and a 18 branded one on the route few days ago. Is Caledonia still doing the 21 or is it shared with Blantyre?

Not uncommon to see E400MMC or E400 on the 500. I seen one of the unbranded E400 citys on the 500 yesterday.

What is the bus times page? I was looking at Bustimes.org but no buses tracking on that.
As far as I know listening to the rumour mill the 21 is going back to Blantyre in the next cycle change

It seems like such a waste to have those E400s sitting out of service when Glasgow needs as much Euro 6 stock as it can. They’ve been out for so long.
Agreed. They’ve been away for ages! There were 10 hybrids but only 7 show now. Where did the other 3 go?

I am sure I seen one on the 6A about a year ago!

I see, I was looking at the route map on Bus time.org. Hoping to catch a ride on one before I go back down south.

Are there more standees allowed than on the diesel buses (like the hydrogen double deckers in Aberdeen so the total passengers carried is much the same as the diesel version)?

There isn’t as many flip downs in the EVs, but that also means there’s slightly more forward facing seats
Does this mean it wasn't fully charged overnight? The 75 isn't a super long route compared to some of the others in Glasgow, but maybe the gradients up Castlemilk might've had something to do with it?
Some of the 9/9A bus boards are pulled early as well due to range
limitations, some of the 18hr bus boards are operated with diesels and the remaining 200evs are put onto the 64 or similar.

That makes sense

I'm guessing if they were running out of juice on a Friday, they'd bring out new electrics for the N9?

I was driving a branded 75 tonight. It had a tap and go box installed- I wonder when its coming into operation.

Only 69 seats on the evs with 74 seats on the mmc.cant understand why they have bought smaller capacity buses.

Has there been any date for service changes mentioned yet?

I know it was delayed due to the pay talks but now that the deal is done I'd be surprised if there wasn't any reductions going by the cancellations still occuring

Staying on current Christmas timetables until Monday 10th when an enhanced Saturday service will start. This is due to increased staff absence due to omicron variant. Have no official source but staff have been informed.

Thank you for the information. It's pretty much what I expected going by what's been missing from experience.

Are all the E400MMCs on the 75 getting replaced by the electric citys?
Yes, but not one-for-one. There are 22 existing MMCs on the 75 and I have seen a list (but do not physically have a copy) that states 16 or 18 new EVs for the 75 of which around 80% will be branded with yellow fronts.

I think 22 MMC's was a bit much for the route which only requires 16 buses but it has seemed to work on the long term as they are being de-branded. I also think it's better to have a roughly 70-80% branded fleet for each route because the buses do have a habit of going on another route they weren't assigned for. For example, I saw a 65 branded Enviro200 MMC on the 31 today.

All the 65's were electric today thats probably the reason Plus there was a branded 75 on the 21 branded buses are all over the place

I wonder if the plan will be to debrand the 65 branded E200MMCs in favour of the new electrics.

It’ll be good to see the newer 68/19 stock cascaded around the network to upgrade other routes. I’ll be glad to see the back of the B7TLs they are so dated now and the interiors are pretty shabby.

I see most of the 333xx Transbus Tridents are shown as disposed on the December First fleet changes list.
Also long term survivor 33120 is also shown as gone from the fleet. I wonder if any have survived for preservation or have they all gone on a one way trip for scrap?

Cant agree there. B7TLs are the best in the fleet
Can still remember some of the best ones to drive, 32565, 32798, 32602, 32614 & 32305

My favourite B9s were 37740 & 48

By far & away the worst are the 65-plate E400 diesels..

Sadly, I think it’s sold off to scrap, but I am not sure.

Thank you for that. Sad to hear.
Do you know which scrap dealer they go to these days?
I seem to remember it was a company called M8 Recovery (I think) a few years ago.

Thanks.

Are the new Enviro200 EV's for the 7/7A?
I believe that is their intended route but they won’t be branded so they can be used on other routes.

I wish the 2 were getting new EVs. Hopefully if the 77 gets new EVs the deckers from there can cascade on to the 2.
