I’ve heard of this frequently happening on the 6. There isn’t enough capacity or frequency on the route as it stands. They need double deckers or an increase in frequency at busy times.
If the issue is just at the northwest end then why not run additional 6As from the city centre but along the 6 route to Clydebank?

The demand on the 6 is a bit messy. Anniesland into the City Centre and south from the City to Muirend/Clarkston can be very busy, but the extremes can be quiet. The Clydebank section can be very quiet, so probably doesn’t need any boost. I’m not an expert on that part of Glasgow, but I think the Drumchapel section of the 6a is busier.

Before Covid both the 6 and 6a were every ten minutes, so 12 buses an hour up Great Western Rd – it’s now 8. On the south side the 4 and the 6 gave 10 buses an hour from Clarkston into town – it’s now 7. Passenger numbers might still be down a bit on pre-covid, but they haven’t dropped by a third, so that’s why there’s overcrowding.

It's no wonder First Glasgow's profits shot up last year...

The 6 ending its journey in clydebank town centre is a fail, it should be extended to duntocher giving people of duntocher and hardgate a bus to anniesland for hospital and city centre

Always been a problem on the 6 and other mostly single decker routes. Busy single decker routes have to be punctual for them to work.

The 6 should of kept all the low heights on the route all along. I see there is still a few kicking about.

Maybe Citybus/WCM could introduce a service along Great Western Road? They seem to have done well over the years competing with First 60/61 on Maryhill Rd and Firsts 4 on University Avenue with their 17 and 15 services.

Deckers will be a problem as Aberdeen took 15 and the rest of the deckers cannot fit under busby bridge.
I heard that once the new Electroliners arrived they would return back to Glasgow, however not sure how true that is. Glasgow were using the low heights on the 2 and 3 services a lot and the 6 was running with E300s and B7RLEs for a long time before most of them moved to Aberdeen.

The issue is that I doubt Glasgow are looking to get custom made buses for the 6 built again so once the E400s go there will be nothing to replace them.

Ipswich, York and Potteries all took low-height Streetdecks a few years back so First will buy low height deckers when needed

What Glasgow needs is frequency uplifts on the busiest routes. I’ve been travelling from the East End over to Gartnavel a lot over the last few months and the buses are mobbed. My 6 yesterday swept past several stops with about 25 standing onboard. Timekeeping/punctuality is also shocking, so maybe we need to brace for more AI timetables. Is Glasgow still short of drivers? Noticed a few cancellations on the app.
The 6 is soon to get all its low height Enviros back from aberdeen soon

That isn’t what I said. I said it’s unlikely they’ll order them for the 6 when they were using the low heights on other routes in Glasgow.

They were only at Aberdeen temporarily between the Enviro500s and what was replacing them on the 1/2.
Hopefully they are back on the 6. Though they are 11 and 61 plates so not got too long in the fleet.

Last night , I was driving through Newton Mearns heading South on Ayr Road and a 4 service was heading city bound on Ayr road. Either there was a diversion or the driver forgot to turn to Eaglesham Road at the Asda. There were a few people waiting on Eaglesham Road for this bus!

Today I caught 37213 on the 1C at 6:19am this morning (for context, this 1C working is a Scotstoun depot based bus, that runs to the city, and becomes a 77 for the rest of the day).

Usually it’s an E400MMC most of the time, so it was nice to have a Gemini on the route, takes me back to when the 1C & 1D buses had branded Gemini work with the E300s.

It looks like Glasgow are getting the 13 new electric buses, the balance being for Aberdeen, assuming the number for Glasgow has not changed.
We have done this by investing more into our green future with the purchase of 36 new electric buses, without using any Scottish Government funding

New buses are always welcomed albeit even if they’re just for the 500.

I presume we’ll get an announcement from First confirming the manufacturer and when we can expect to see them in service. It would be nice if the current E400 City’s could be merged into the fleet like during Covid but I imagine First will have plans for them down South as they try to cull the remaining B7TLs.

Been a big push for agency drivers recently and many are being put up in accomodations while working in Glasgow so your probably seeing a driver that used to work down south working here.

Always reminds me of when I worked for First Bristol (Cityline), I used to keep running into a fellow Scot when changing at the Horsefair or Rupert Street that was agency staff but wore a Stagecoach uniform. Must have been a touch confusing for the passengers (if they were paying attention that is), certainly baffled me the first time I handed the 9 over to him.

What would management say about other operators uniforms while driving for First!
