42842/843 & 66126/127 are running in Plymouth today so possibly 4 ex Plymouth buses running in Cornwall.

I am advised that 42725 42841 and 62214 are also now in Plymouth although I have not seen them myself.

I am also advised that 32808/817/851/858 33176 32751 have gone to Bath for RRP.

Volvo 66126 gets about! I travelled from Pendeen into Penzance on it only last Tuesday (28th July).

Slightly off-topic but preserved Dart L401 VCV was used at Penzance bus station today for filming purposes. There was a German company involved filming passengers getting on and off the bus complete with western National titles.

Earlier they were at the railway station filming the same sort of action using the Night Riviera train after it's arrival from Paddington.

That would be a German film company filming an adaptation of a Rosamunde Pilcher novel, very popular on German television. Last week filming took place at the King's Arms, Market Square, St Just and also a few weeks ago at Geevor Tin Mine, Pendeen. On a similar note filming resumes on the BBC's Poldark at Botallack in early September.

Another repaint into Olympia colours is former Reading Scania 65764. This was the red and silver one.

Some of us shopkeepers in Pz have earned a bob or two from these German Pilcher adaptations over the years (well, not me actually, but I did alright out of the original Wycliffe TV showing):)

You must own the bookshop in Chapel Street that was featured in the 1993 pilot episode of Wycliffe called Cycle of Death; Matthew Glynn the bookseller was murdered!

20502 departed Camborne earlier today. I'm not sure that it made it to Rutherglen but £2 sounds a real bargain!

Made me chuckle when I saw it, bet there were a few confused locals at the bus stops when they saw that pass them with Rutherglen on the front.

Service subsidised by Nicola Sturgeon?

Repainted Scania 65764 in action on the 18 today.

First taking on Megabus now then?

I've been told First Kernow are going for some long distance coach contracts. My informant didn't say who for, but I made the assumption of NatEx but you never know with First

Taken from Western Morning news website:-

First Kernow has been named FirstGroup's best team in the South of England and Wales at a recent company awards ceremony.

Staff at First Kernow took the Best Team Award at the inaugural First UK Bus Excellence Awards, beating off stiff competition from teams based as far afield as Portsmouth in Hampshire and Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

Their winning citation highlighted their immediate and united response when in March Western Greyhound, Cornwall's second largest bus operator, ceased trading.

On that day, the First Kernow team ran emergency bus replacement services, recruited drivers made jobless by Western Greyhound's closure and worked with stakeholder partner, Cornwall Council, to plan and produce a full network replacement for services throughout Mid-Cornwall.

The team then worked tirelessly throughout the weekend, gathering up the fleet of buses, compiling duties and rosters, training the newly recruited staff and preparing for the replacement services which were starting the following Monday.

As a result of their unstinting work, service disruption to the travel patterns on the Monday were minimal and feedback from customers and stakeholders was both positive and enthusiastic. The security and sustainability of the routes, and the staff, are also now guaranteed for at least the next 12 months.

"The evident team commitment and spirit towards this achievement has been immense. All credit to the First Kernow team," the citation said

Mel Williams, business manager of First Kernow, said: "This is the most unexpected honour for us. At the time, we were faced with a situation that we had to address swiftly and directly if bus services in Cornwall were to continue operating regularly.

"Everyone on the team without exception played their part and we are extremely proud to be recognised by our peers in such a wonderful way."

For his contribution to the transformation of the First Kernow business, Alex Carter, First South West's managing director was highly commended in the Leader of the Year Award while Arron Kelly, Truro Park & Ride's Manager was highly commended in the Young Manager of the Year category. First Kernow engineer Stuart Ladner was also shortlisted for the Engineer of the Year Award.

Mr Carter said: "Our achievements this year are a ringing endorsement of the tremendous team spirit which now exists within the business. I am immensely proud of and grateful to all the team for the enormous lengths they have gone to in making our business strong and secure.

"Our main objective is to provide an efficient and reliable bus service for our customers in Cornwall and these awards demonstrate that we on the right path towards achieving this."

Anyone know what the regular workings are for the Lodekka / Bristol VR at the moment? I saw the Lodekka today on the 17B service whilst the 300 was a Volvo Citybus.

The VR was not in use at Penzance depot.

Anyone been observing the vehicles recently?

The Lodekka was in use on Monday and Tuesday, seen on both days by me at just after 18.00 on the 17B Penzance bound at Long Rock. I'm hoping to travel on it tomorrow p.m. It looked splendid, but on both occasions the driver seemed to be having his work cut out with the steering.

Latest repaints into Olympia are ex Reading Scania 65763 (the last one to be done) and Solo 53107.

Solo 53827 has been repainted at Plymouth as well.

BMC Trainer 68571 has moved to Camborne today.

1 of the ex Lothian Darts failed on delivery. It has had the engine changed in Taunton and has now been sent on to Cornwall. Apart from that the three of them aren't knackered at all but are tidy well maintained vehicles. The two that did make it to Cornwall were held in reserve. At least one has been painted in Olympia now with the others due in paint imminently. All are entering service with First Kernow.

Anyone seen any of the ex Lothian Dart's recently? Any registration - fleetnumber tie-up's would be appreciated.
