They may be old and scruffy but those three don't do badly!
53826 is a well worked machine - hate to think how many times that has run to Mousehole! They're a bit faded (the pink hasn't worn well) but didn't think 53826 or 53704 were too bad when I travelled on them, given their age, though they do probably need putting out to pasture.

53709 seems to have been the victim of many a niggling VOR though

It was parked in Penzance depot on Saturday when I popped in to get my Levante some diesel
Is there a particular reason why it has not been used yet? The weather would appear to be ideal, including in the forecast. My Mousehole friend is getting suspicious that I was winding her up bigtime in mentioning it a few times over the last weeks. I'm even beginning to think myself that an elaborate hoax is being spun, and I'm not the credulous sort! Bring it on!

I have heard several ‘reasons’ but aren’t sure what is correct and what is incorrect so won’t add anything other than the truth is out there somewhere.

All three Mousehole liveried Solos are in service this morning on the Mousehole service!

Spoke too soon, 53704 is in the workshops at Camborne!

It has been on the Cornwall fleet since last year, it is just on loan to Somerset as they are a few open tops short.

37388 and 37396 arrived Wednesday evening, although 37388 has had problems already, being unable to move from its current position due to electrical gremlins apparently

Someone trying to fix it in Camborne right now.

A poorly 33459 on the 17 currently receiving some attention from a man in a van.

Subsequently fixed and re-entered service.

How bad is the damage and was everyone ok?

Somerset live had a report and photos on their website, all the back end around the engine affected.
Hard to say how bad, I will leave that to the engineers / insurers to decide when it is assessed.

www.somersetlive.co.uk

Two of them seem more reliable than the other one, it’s a shame they haven’t been joined by open sided 53503.

53503 has gone from the First Kernow vehicle listing in bustimes for what it’s worth.

I wonder what vehicle types have been ordered for the route. I guess there aren’t many choices available that are suitable.
There's nothing other than Sprinter-type vehicles that would fit.

It's been stated previously that the Solo SR doesn't fit and in any case Optare have now stopped making diesel buses.

Llew Jones of North Wales have a small fleet of Sprinter type mini-buses, perhaps something like these?

Interesting thread that's making me want to plan a trip to Cornwall.
