The next demonstrator Electric Bus has entered service after the trial of the double decker ended. This one is Volvo BZL single decker BV72KPF which recently spent time on loan at East Yorkshire. It has fleet number 69700 whilst at Olive Grove. Seen today on 51.

Ex York B9TL Gemini 37251 is another I have seen in service, this time in Doncaster.

All seen by myself this week:
After the return of the BZL single decker the latest loan vehicle is Yutong U11DD registered UU11 DDD it has First fleet number 38880 if following on BusTimes. It was on 51 today in Sheffield in a Black & Grey livery with Pelican Bus & Coach above the door. It looks quite smart & the destination blind on the front looks larger than on the Volvo BZL double decker.

B9TL Gemini 2 36279 & 36280 have moved from First Greater Manchester to Olive Grove depot in Sheffield after a temporary loan with Go North West, they have both had the guide wheels removed.

B7RLE Eclipse 69463 has moved from Olive Grove to Doncaster.

The two Gemini's 36279 & 36280 actually had removeable Guide Wheels and when not on Busway work they were removed so they would just simply of been removed at Bolton.

I certainly think that the Yutong U11 suits First Group well (not my photo)

FSY are to loan one of York’s electroliners for testing and will send a loan electric (supposedly the Yutong) to York in exchange at some point in the near future

This could be the reason why the Volvo BZL Decker has returned to South Yorkshire (it did the Flying Scotsman shuttles in Doncaster yesterday) as the Yutong has left for elsewhere, I have seen pictures of it on Flickr at Nottingham City Transport.

36515 is the York Electroliner on loan at Sheffield, and it will be the BZL decker not the Yutong that York receives on loan in return

Seen by myself:
Ex Leicester B7RLE 69440 has been repainted in Sheffield livery but without branding.

Ex Leicester B7RLE 69442 is now in Sheffield livery with no branding.

All Southampton StreetLite’s are now painted with a number branded as ‘keeping our City moving’ for the theme.
Streetlite 63052 is a Poppy appeal livery with a red front & remaining in blue.

36515 has returned to York; 39601 has returned from Leeds and is back in use at Olive Grove.

37259 becomes the second B9TL to be withdrawn for scrap.

There has been a swap of buses between Sheffield & Doncaster. B7RLE Eclipses 69461, 69462 & 69463 have moved back to Olive Grove & Enviro 400’s 33858, 33859, 33860 & 33861 have moved to Doncaster.

B7RLE 69248 now appears to be the only 07 plate B7RLE in service at Doncaster with 69245, 69246 & 69247 withdrawn.

B9TL Gemini’s 37105, 37478 & 37484 are withdrawn with failure.

B9TL Gemini 37557 has moved from Manchester to Doncaster, will gain the engine from 37105 & enter service at Doncaster.

B7RLE 69248 is now withdrawn at Doncaster.

StreetDeck 35101 has been pictured at Leicester undergoing repairs. 35111 for a short period gained the EE overall advert before having it removed, this has peeled off a large amount of the Buses for Sheffield branding.

I think buses for Sheffield has been dead for a few years now anyway, certainly judging by the loss of coordinated timetables on multi operator routes like 24/25!

A consultation has been launched on the First South Yorkshire website giving people a chance to say on proposed changes from April 2024. Some Highlights are:
Doncaster Network renumbered into 3xx series with route & time changes to current routes.
15 Edlington to Clay Lane service split at Doncaster.
X1/X2 replaces X10 & to run X78 route from Sheffield to Rotherham. X2 to run beyond Maltby to Doncaster replacing 10. X2 is current X10
X78 renumbered X3 & rerouted to run via current X1/X10 route between Sheffield & Rotherham.
X5 - one journey per hour extended from Dinnington via Thurcroft to Maltby.
52A - Woodhouse Station to Hillsborough route extended back to serve Wisewood & Loxley.

That should make the new X2 unreliable in both directions, with potential traffic delays at both ends of the route.

The following buses are on loan due to Tram Replacements at Olive Grove causing an increase in PVR requirements:
Enviro 400’s 33670 & 33692 from Manchester.
StreetDeck 35179 from Leicester.
Enviro 200 MMC 67148 from Potteries.

Additional buses seen in use are:
From Oldham depot:
B9TL’s 37554 & 37559 at Olive Grove & 37556 at Doncaster.

Six 67-reg StreetDecks have been cascaded to Olive Grove from Bramley, with more expected.

Enviro 400’s 33670 & 33692 have moved on to Essex instead of returning to Manchester. The other vehicles returned to their original locations.

Additional B9TL’s are 37553, 37557.

As there are some changes in Doncaster (I think some routes have increased frequency), is the PVR expected to go up and if so, what buses will be transferred?

The Enviro 400’s at Doncaster are rumoured to be moving to Halifax hence some of the extra Manchester deckers. I would think Doncaster will also run some of the boards on the X2 with Olive Grove running the Sheffield-Maltby versions, possible inter working with X5 Maltby journeys on this. The 384/387/388 seem to use mostly the same resources as the current 84/87/87a & the Saturday PVR on these looks lower than at the moment. The 354 (54) increase will probably use an extra bus currently on the 58 side of the interworking of these.

Yes, there is a small PVR increase, which has been covered by the influx of ‘09 plate B9TLs from Manchester, alongside those which have moved to displace the enviro400s.
