32553 on Bristol 48 (? transfer from Bath)
66722 on 5 (had been stored at Westbury)
66882/4 on 5

Comments welcome!

Note 69444/5 haven't worked for 2/3 weeks? Allegedly, 32283 is on the 48 so, if that were true, then Barbie didn't disappear in March!

As always, some care required as ticket machines are swapped etc and nothing appears to be tracking on the 172

I'm going into Bath now so I'll report back the workings soon. The tracker for Bath seems to be broken and the only buses tracking say they are going to a Bristol destination.

Pleased to report that 32004 or 32008 didn’t venture onto excel work today , thankfully. These services have consisted of all the E400s including the two Urbans, B9s and Streetlites. As suspected, Marlborough Street were using excel Streetlites on the X8 & X9 alongside some B9s.

The interworking of services on excel has changed. When an X1 arrives it now does either an X3, X4, X6 or X7 before going back to Weston as an X1. The buses on the X3x go as far as Portishead as an X3x before changing to an X5 and carrying on to Weston and vice versa. The buses on the X1x goes backwards and forwards as these all day. It is nice to see these back.

The 376 has predominantly been Mendip Explorer E400s and B9s with a 323** B7TL.

The weirdest one has been the 93x. Whereas before as the Staff Shuttle it was a Streetlite or a decker sometimes changing once in the day, virtually every trip has been something different. I have seen on it:

- A lime green Citylines 24 B9 (This really is a bright colour and definitely won’t be hard to miss, complete with retrimmed seats. A driver described the colour as being offensive to the eyes lol)
- A Urban B9
- A Urban B7TL
- A Urban Streetlite
- A green fronted service 8 Streetlite
- A 70/71 pink fronted Streetdeck
- A 90 red fronted Streetdeck

69444 was photographed on the 173! So it's actually back as a Wells bus for today! Also 33752 was on there, so that's a loan to Wells!

32096 was showing the Bristol destinations, but was tracking in the Bath area on the 1 route. I reckon it's an E400 that's gained an old ticket machine!

A few notes. There was an issue with 47446 on the 3A/4 so 36822 came off the 172 to go on the 3A/4. Another thing is no bendies out which is a shame and it seems all B7RLE 5 buses (apart from 66882 which probably was out but I didnt see it) are back in service. Another small thing that I found slightly odd is that the A in 3A and 6A is now lowercase on the blinds instead of uppercase before.

I should also mention that the Scania that was on the 3A was supposedly too big to get round Elmhurst so the driver stopped at Batheaston. Are they much bigger than the B9s and would that stop it from getting round Elmhurst?

It is very tight round Elmhurst and those Scanias are big beasts. I think the wheelbase is longer and if you look at top deck capacity of 49 vs. 45, that tells you that they're probably nearer 12m long.

47446 you reported on the 3A/4 and 47544 on the 1 hadn’t previously been shown as transferred to Bath ex HE and LH.

I was surprised this morning to see that the LEDs on the destination/route display on the front of 39459 are orange, not white. Is it changeable on each vehicle, or is this one an oddity?

39459 had a faulty white LED display so it was replaced with an orange one that was taken from a different vehicle.

Think the Scanias are 11.4m long, which is 0.1m shorter than the longest ADL MMCs! I'm sure I saw a 12m B7RLE do the old 3 route before it was split into 3/3A though, so I assume that tried to get round Elmhurst!

Oddly it also seems that one of the SK63 Streetlites from HE, 47443 has come up to LH now as well! 47442 is another one of these in Bath!

Does anyone know exactly how many B9s have been painted green for the 24? Is it just the ex-X39 batch or are some of 37768-70 included as well?

Also are Weston definitely running one of the 126 boards, as I saw photos of 66720 & 69447 on there today? Unless one of these two is in Weston on loan?

Does anyone know what the blinds are for the new routes. I.e. 41x, 93x and X3x. Thanks.
Haven’t seen the 41x but the others are

- 93X: Either ‘City Centre 93x’ or ‘Hengrove 93x’
- X3x: Either ‘Bristol X3x’ or ‘Portishead X3x’ with ‘X1x Portishead’ on the side

The 126 is being run by Wells with no involvement from Weston at the moment.

Weston should only have 2 single deckers, both Streetlites on the 5. Though some have strayed onto other Badgerline and excel services to cover for missbehaving B7TLs, B9s and E400s.

Somewhat unreported is a new, competitive, service in Bristol!

I'd been wondering why First's service 73 didn't track properly on Bus times however it's (apparently) because it's been taken over by Sovereign Coaches of Lyme Regis:

Bus Times link

Sovereign Coaches
A bus operator in the South West
Bus services operated by Sovereign Coaches
Contact Sovereign Coaches
01297 23000
Pine Lodge
Sidmouth Road
Rousdon
Lyme Regis
DT7 3RD

Traveline have gone some way to correcting what (I assume!) is a mistake by removing the name of the operator from the service so they might release a fixed data set next week. (Or a new VOSA application will appear!).

Considerably longer than a B7TL/B9TL.

Back in black and white days, they sent 11.3m/11.6m Nationals round there but then again, there were fewer cars. Just takes something poorly parked round there and you're screwed, which is one reason why they were going to stop going round

Any confirmation of where the 5 shorts turned around?

I drove past the entrance to the depot the otherday just as 66727 nosed out onto the Lower Bristol Road with '5 City Centre' on the front.

It did get me thinking though, could they go under the rail arch, up the High Street and then turn down Mill Lane and back under the rail arch to turn?
