So I was 'that guy' yesterday. Booked for three to travel on a day trip to London, on the bus on the way to the station, I realised that I'd left my F&F railcard in a ticket wallet that I'd used for a previous trip, and not in the ID compartment in my wallet that I'd normally use.
So being sat there with a hatful of Railcard-discounted tickets, I bit the bullet on arrival at the station and bought another 1 year F&F railcard.
Now, googling round the subject today, I'm finding suggestions that if I'd travelled as normal on the railcard-discounted tickets without the railcard, I'd have been able, once a year, to claim a refund of the excess fares imposed by the guards. Of course, these would have totalled more than the £30 face value of the railcard.
Do you reckon, if I ask nicely, I might be able to get the replacement railcard refunded? The one I usually use has 2 years' validity left, so this one year one, with the same signatories, is totally superfluous to my needs. I got it because I'm a nice honest chap and didn't want any hassle and wanted to set a good example to my boy.
